"Y...Yak?" You hear yourself stammer out
Whats gotten into me? Is it just me or.. have they gotten better looking since the last time I saw them? No, no. I think I'm just going crazy. It's been a while after all.
"That's my name, don't wear it out! Haha!" Yak said with a smile
"Why did you wanna come over again..?" I was very confused. They never suddenly show up, let alone to my house.
"Is that really how you greet a guest?" They said teasingly
"Oh, Yak. You're too much sometimes. My house is pretty boring, did you wanna go out somewhere? It seems as if you're dressed up...." I'd say. Maybe that's what made them seemingly more attractive? The fact that they've dressed themselves all fancy-like?
"Right! I wanted to take you out to a picnic.... d...date...." They'd mumble.
"I'm sorry yak, but I couldn't really understand that last part. Mind repeating yourself?
"It's nothing. Just a picnic! That's all I said!" They'd nervously tug on their shirt collar.
"Oh, if that's the case then sure! I wouldn't mind it at all. What time did you wanna head out?" I'd say
"Now! Now would be fine... we have other things to do anyways. Let's go!" Yak would exclaim, perking up again. I then felt something warm brush by my hand with the feeling of a firm grasp coming shortly after. Before I got a chance to examine what was taking hold of my hand, Yak and I were already on the move. That was when I realized that Yak was tugging me along, holding my hand and happily dragging me towards their car.
Wait, What? Yak was holding... my hand? And taking me to a picnic? I don't remember them being the type to enjoy stuff like this. I suppose they've changed over the passed week or two. You see, not too long ago, Yak started acting weird. We've been friends for ages and Ive never seen them as strange as this. One day we were talking like the best of friends, and the next I was being ignored. I didn't understand. Yak was distancing from me, and now we're in a car together?
Now that I realize it, we haven't said a single word this whole car ride. I glanced over at Yak to try to find a topic to talk about, but that's when I caught them looking at me. Have they been looking my way this whole time? Awkward...
I decided to stay silent the rest of the ride. If I don't bring it up there won't be more added tension.Luckily, it didn't last too much longer. We'd finally arrive to a beautiful field filled with daisies and other flowers. Other couples were huddled together, giggling and messing around. It was cute, but it made me wonder why Yak took me here. Everyone here is obviously in romantic relationships with each other. The only people who I can tell are here as friends are a group of three. They still seem to be having a great time though.
"Thanks formaking the dickation of Dependant Abraham" Said the one wearing frog related attire. The other two had burst out in laughter.
I shook my head to get back on track
I suppose we could be coming here as friends, but I just feel like it would be a waste. Wouldn't they rather do this with their future partner instead?
"Hello..? Hello? Y/N? You there?" Yak would say, waving their arm in front of my face.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Sorry. I was just looking at the flowers and... thinking."
Was I really standing there thinking to myself for that long? I suppose it doesn't matter. Yak has something to tell me.
"Go ahead and pick out a spot! Ill get the picnic blanket and food out from the trunk." Yak said, hitting the top hood of the trunk. I walked off and found a nice shady spot so that we wouldn't overheat in the blazing sun. Yak slowly started bringing things out from the trunk and over to where I was. They seem to have brought a lot of stuff.
Hopefully they brought water along, I'm really thirsty.
That's when I felt it, a drop of water. I looked up and realized how cloudy it had become. Had Yak really taken that long to bring all this over? I watched as they headed towards me, carrying the last few things over to me.
"Yak, are you sure you looked at the weather before planning all this? Everyone seems to be heading out by now and I almost swear I felt a raindrop." I'd ask
"It's all good! I'm sure they all just feel as if they've spent enough time here, that's all."
"Fine, I'm trusting you. Where's the food anyways?" I hadn't eaten breakfast before leaving with Yak, so they better have packed something good.
"Right in here!" They said, motioning towards a medium sized basket.
"So, lets dig in!"
