Mauve is the color of youth and devotion Six months. It's been six months since you've last seen your favorite person in the world. In-person, that is. It hasn't been easy, but you've managed to the best of your ability. You would FaceTime and call as often as you could, always checking in on each other. During your last few calls, you could see how the tour was starting to take a toll on him. He seemed more tired and less focused on what was going on around him. You felt heartbroken seeing him like that and you wished you could fly to whatever city he was in just to wrap him up in love and comfort. You shook your head as you made your way to your garden at the top of your apartment building. You had asked the landlady if you could start your own garden up here when Mingi went away on tour. She agreed as long as you planted some carrots for her rabbit. You were more than happy to oblige, especially since her rabbit was an absolute sweetheart. The garden kept you busy after work and on the weekends when you really started missing Mingi too much. Everything was growing perfectly under your tender love and care, and soon you would have delicious home-grown vegetables for dinner. You tended to your carrots, cabbage, radishes, persimmons, and potatoes carefully. Smiling to yourself as you weeded and watered your little garden, you lost track of time. Before too long, the sun was dipping below the horizon, announcing it was time for you to get ready for dinner. You weren't doing anything special tonight; just some good food and some comfy pajamas were in order after the week you had. Descending the staircase, you sighed despite yourself. Even if you lost count of the days until Mingi would be back in your arms, you still imagined him being at your apartment door, fumbling with the lock as always. You let out a bitter chuckle, remembering all the times he would ask you to change the lock because the one you had "hated" him. You would always laugh after hearing him out and kiss his cheek, saying you would think about it. You made a mental note about putting in a word with the landlady to see if you could finally get that lock fixed. Perhaps he would be able to come home to a lovely surprise that his key didn't even work. Just as you suspected, Mingi was not waiting at your door, silently cursing at the lock. No one was waiting for you. Tears started to fill your eyes, but you blinked them away. There was no use crying over such nonsense. He'll be home as soon as you can, so you just have to be strong enough for him. You opened your door into your dark and lonely apartment and shivered. It felt colder than before, but you suppressed the thought for now. Tonight was going to be another rough night of silently waiting and trying not to think about it. You snuggled into your favorite comfy clothes and made yourself some instant ramen. As you ate, you selected a random movie to watch on Netflix, since you didn't have work tomorrow. You planned on gorging yourself on comfort food and good movies until you passed out from exhaustion. It was better than being alone with your melancholic thoughts about not being cuddled up next to Mingi. In between movies, you put your bowl in the sink to wash later and snagged your emergency tub of ice cream from the freezer. You tried not to think about the many times Mingi would try to steal some of your ice creams whenever the two of you watched movies and how you would smack him with a pillow every time he did. It seemed like everything reminded you of your boyfriend today. And you were doing so well these past few days ignoring the ache in your gut. Despite your better judgment, you checked my phone to see what time it was or to see if he had tried to contact you. There were no new notifications, making you sigh. It was around four in the morning where he was anyways, meaning it was too late now for you to call him. Giving another sad sigh, you started to watch the next movie. You were mildly surprised that it was a horror-suspense movie, but you didn't change it. Unlike your scaredy-cat boyfriend, you didn't mind scary movies. As you watched, you found yourself laughing at all the jumpscares and intense music, thinking about Mingi jumping into your arms so he could "better protect you" from the scary things on the TV. You were so enamored with the movie, that you didn't hear the soft swearing outside of your door. "Yah, Y/n, you really need to change that lock-" You screamed, almost throwing your ice cream in the air, which would have been really tragic as it would have been a waste of ice cream. However, not only were you screaming, but a man and the TV were too. Stupid scary movie! Trying to calm down your rapidly beating heart, you took in my startled boyfriend, his bags dropped to the floor and his skin as pale as the ghosts on the TV, clutching his heart dramatically. "M-Mingi?" "Y/n, love, why are you watching this movie!" He whined, trying to hide his face with his hands. "I'm not here to protect you from the monsters! You should-" You cut him off by launching yourself on top of him. "You're back! I can't believe you're back! Why didn't you tell me you were back?" He laughed, burying his head in the crook of your neck. "I wanted my return to be a surprise! But it looks like we both got surprised." Laughing, you attacked his face with kisses and he became bright red. "I'm so glad to have you home. You have no idea how much I've missed you." "You have no idea how much I've missed you!" He exclaimed. "Towards the end of the tour, I wasn't sure if I could make it any longer. I had half a mind to swim the ocean just to get to you." "But you did make it and I'm so proud of you for sticking it out." You pointed out and he smiled. "I'm glad I did. I wouldn't want to miss this for the world." Mingi was about to kiss you when his phone started to buzz in his pocket. He pulled it out only to laugh at whoever texted him. You cocked your head to the side, confused. "What? What is it?" "Oh, the guys want to know how the surprise went." He chuckled as he started to put his phone away. "I'll talk to them later. I want to spend more time with you." You grabbed his phone and opened the camera. "Smile." You muttered before pressing another kiss to his cheek and taking a picture. You sent it to the Ateez group chat when you started laughing hysterically. "Okay, now it's my turn to ask what's up?" Instead of replying to him, you simply showed him the picture you took. He noticed all the mauve-colored kisses on his face. You seemed to have forgotten to take off your makeup from work earlier today and you had stained his face with your lipstick. There were lipstick prints from the top of his forehead to the bottom of his chin, all from your kiss attack earlier. He started to laugh, but the blush creeping up to his cheeks betrayed how flustered he really was. "Aish, Y/n, did you have to kiss me so many times? Now I'm never going to hear the end of it from the others!" He pouted, making you laugh harder. "It's cute, Mingu! You're just too adorable, honestly." You teased. "Besides if they give you crap for it, they'll have to go through me too. And we all know how scary I can be." He smirked at your attempt to make a scary face and kissed your temple. "Very scary." "Damn right I am." You smiled. "So do you wanna finish the movie with me?" "Absolutely not." He deadpanned making you laugh. He then whined, "Can't we watch a different movie, please?" "Well, since you asked so nicely, I'll let you pick." You assured him. "Just as long as I get cuddles." Mingi nodded. "Absolutely. I'm overdue for some cuddles as well."
