Chapter one: The Human Theory

"No way!" Aurora gasps as her eyes widen.

"Oh yeah. And she had fake everything! Eye color, hair, lips, breasts-" Topaz pauses to catch her breath, then continues, "everything!"

Aurora shakes her head in disapproval, but honestly, I think anyone could be able to tell how excited she was. My opinion however, was that she was too young to listen to any of this. As in, the myths.

"Aurora, don't listen to Topaz. She's full of it." I say, and watch her face drop, along with her joy.

Great job buzzkill, I tell myself.

"What's up with you anyways Emma? A few days ago, you believed me in The Human Theory, and now you shut all the cool stuff out."

I shake my head, blocking last night out of my head. Father was strict about humans. "I got common sense. Anyways, let me ask you something, oh beautiful Topaz, have you ever gotten near a human? Or, talked to them? And let's be honest here, have you been hanging out with Jared? Did he give you that see-weed stuff?" (A/n: I had to)

Topaz swims over and swats me, her red hair flying everywhere.

"First off, NO, you know I stopped with Jared! I was only bored, so I played with him for a while. After all, he found my singing quite tempting. Second off, NO, I didn't take any of his weird drugs, and third, why would I need to get close to a human? You know they're dangerous."

I roll my eyes. Sirens were sooo self-absorbed. Not to mention her human slang was getting on my nerves. Drugs WASNT a word. "No, Topaz, I know that they're not real. You shouldn't be feeding Aurora these lies anyways."

I see Aurora swim away, and realizes she's probably going to sleep. I disappointed her big time.

Chalk one up for Emma.

I hear beautiful humming, and turn my head to see Laura, shaking her fin around.

"Hey Laura, spot anyone?" Topaz asks, and I shake my head. Laura and Topaz were twins, but they might as well been the same body, since all their thoughts are alike.

"I didn't get near enough. Correction, I didn't even get past Luna's house. Town patrol was huge today. Of course, that would be because of tonight. Honestly, I don't know what idiot would go out anyways. They deserve whatever happens to them." I nod in approval. Who in their right mind would go out in Deflou night?

Not me, that was for sure.

"Speaking of Luna," Laura continues, "I may or may have not talked her up into invited you dorks into the one and only Deflou Dance."

I gasp in astonishment, Topaz's following mine. Luna was like, super popular. And to her, we were nobodies. How Laura got us in to the most popular party ever? I have no clue.

"Wait, on Deflou Night? Isn't that against the rules?" I ask, nervous. When your father is Chief, you tend to not want to break any rules.

"No Mom, it isn't. The rules says you have to be inside a house you'll be staying in the whole night. Not exiting it, Y'know, what so ever. Those are the rules." Laura says, shaking her head.

Oh yeah.

"Well, there's only one thing left to do..." Topaz whispers, and I turn my head swiftly to look at her mischievous blue eyes.

"Which would be?" I ask, whispering as well.

"GET OUR BEYONĆE ON!"

I hated when she spoke human.
