Yibo felt he had shot himself in the foot but he soon came up with a flimsy excuse.

"After talking with you for so long, if I still cannot tell, it means I'm a fool".

In Xiao Zhan's heart, Yibo had just called himself a fool. He was born here and lived here all his life. He moved away less than 3 months ago but he returned every month to visit his family. This time around, he also wanted to use the opportunity to meet the person he had been speaking with.

Xiao Zhan suspected that all this time, Yibo was the one he was talking to. There was never a girl, just him. As for why Yibo didn't tell him openly that he was a guy, well, not everyone was so open about their sexuality.

Looking at the man in front of him, his ears had turned red from embarrassment. Xiao Zhan couldn't help a smile from forming across his lips. He found this young man rather cute. If this was indeed his date, then things had turned out better than he originally imagined.

"So...do you want to bet?", Yibo still felt embarrassed from nearly getting caught.

"No, no need. It's also fine if she doesn't show up. At least, I got to meet you". Xiao Zhan smiled and winked at Yibo.

Yibo wasn't prepared for that smile. The moment he sat opposite Xiao Zhan, he had been wondering how a person could look so handsome, so...perfect. Being attacked in such a way, he wasn't sure how long he could take it.

"I've not had anything to eat. Do you want to eat? I'm a bit hungry. Or you prefer to wait for..."

"Let's eat then". Xiao Zhan waved towards the waiter who had been standing in the corner. He came over with a menu. It didn't take too long for the both of them to figure out what they wanted to eat.

"Tell me a bit about yourself, let me go first. You already know my name. I'm 29 this year. I live and work in XXX city".

"..."

"Is that all there is to know about you?", Yibo wanted to know more, the most important things like what he liked doing for fun, what were the things he hated most, what he found attractive in a person and most importantly, if he was single. He knew the answer to the last question was probably yes but he wanted to hear it himself.

"What else do you want to know? Just go ahead and ask."

Yibo couldn't bring himself to ask. Xiao Zhan knew he wanted to say more but he was holding back.

"Or we could get to know each other slowly".

Yibo felt this was much better so he replied with an "Okay"

"..."

What did he mean by get to know each other slowly? Was this person really taking him as his date? Well, he wouldn't be totally wrong. He was replacing his date after all. But what he found the most surprising was that he actually wanted to get to know this person as well.

Ziyi knew what she was saying. This person, there was no way he was the kind of person Yibo felt he was. Ziyi was now with her boyfriend and this person just happened to make an impression on him.

Yibo watched him as he ate, sometimes, he smiled and sometimes he had a slight frown. All of his emotions were displayed clearly on his face and Yibo could easily tell the things he liked eating. Yibo found his attitude adorable.

All the dishes Xiao Zhan liked to eat, he moved them closer to him and the others he left in front of himself giving the excuse that he liked them better. Xiao Zhan could tell Yibo was being nice to him so he didn't reject his gestures.

After dinner, both men sat, talking about everything they could think of. It was really obvious that they were reluctant to part from each other. If they were going to become...friends, Yibo felt it would be better to be open from the start. He didn't want to leave room for any misunderstanding to occur.

"I have something to tell you, it's about your date". After saying this, Yibo had no idea how to explain himself in a way that Xiao Zhan would find him sincere.

"I already know what you want to say"

Yibo thought Xiao Zhan may have figured out. He had definitely slipped up a few times.

"I know you were the one chatting with me all this while. As for why you pretended to be a girl, I think I can understand but if I had known you were...you, I would have scheduled this date earlier".

Yibo didn't know whether to laugh or cry, this situation had become even more awkward.
