Chapter 61
Title: Counter AttackThe next day after that, due to her approaching exam, Davi locked herself in her study room. Nevertheless, when evening came, the girl decided to execute another step to continue her mission.
She then took her precious note and scrutinized it for a while before she finally chose the most fitting one.
'Step #15; Send him texts throughout the day'
Hinari warned Davi not to treat this step as something effortless and simple. She told her that this step also required some rules to make it super effective.
The first rule was to message him casually, in other words, send a message that somehow appeared laid-back but sweet at the same time. She also said that it was better to send him messages that were not too bold at the beginning.
Thus, understanding this sage advice, Davi then sent him a simple 'good evening' with a winking cat emoji.
As soon as she sent it, Davi was feeling a bit anxious as she stared at her phone, looking like a teenage girl waiting for her crush's reply, when the phone suddenly rang.
Huh? He's calling?
Davi was quite surprised. She did not expect the snowman to suddenly give her a call.
Thankfully, she managed to react quite fast and she cleared her throat before answering the phone.
"Hello? S-sei?"
"Mm, it's me."
Sei's quick answer somehow made Davi feel a bit stunned. Additionally, his voice was too gorgeous that anyone who heard him might think he was a lost mythical god talking on the other side of the phone.
"Uhh..." Unexpectedly, the girl was lost for words. She struggled to think about what to say to him and she didn't know why. "Uhm... y-yesterday, were you busy when I called?"
Well, that was the first topic that appeared in her mind.
"I was not." Sei's prompt answer made Davi's brows knot slightly.
'Then why did you not say anything?' Davi wanted to ask, but didn't.
"I-is that so?" she said and the man just uttered a short "Mm."
"Oh, okay. Ah, my exam is on Saturday."
Davi somehow started talking casually. In addition, a smile started forming beautifully on her face when she heard the snowman's encouragement. "Do your best."
"Mm. Thank you. Is it okay for me to call you at the same time again, tomorrow?"
"Anytime."
"Eh? Anytime? Are you sure?"
"Mm."
"O-okay." Davi was surprised that he said she could call him anytime. The reason why she did not call him again yesterday was that she was afraid she might have disturbed him.
So, of course, hearing him say that made her smile pleasantly. However, a certain feeling inside her chest started bothering her and her smile began to fade.
A short silence then went by before Davi could talk again.
"When will you come back home?" she asked and her voice suddenly sounded melancholic. However, what she heard next instantly made her eyes widen in disbelief.
"I'm home."
Huh? Did I hear him wrong?
Davi blinked more than three times before she raised her head for she finally felt that someone seemed to be watching her. As soon as she saw the masked man's silhouette standing at the entrance, Davi immediately fell in a daze as she stared at him, speechless.
