"So newbie, ready to experience prison life? Or do you wanna escape with us?"
Those words echoed in his head, over and over again. Freya had invited him to...escape?!
"Hello?Earth to newbie."
A sudden voice pulled Keona out of his thoughts. "Hm? Sorry i didn't hear you." Keona spoke truthfully. His thoughts distracted him from the statement Freya had said.
"We asked if you wanted to escape with us. We're all sick of this place. They don't feed us well enough and the torture anyone who they think of as "too weak"." Oliver had said. His voice sounded upset and unsure. "If you'll have me I'll be grateful to help." Keona said. "Are we sure he won't screw things up? He's a newbie after all." Josiah had said. Keona didn't take this personal. He had the same thoughts. "The wardens name is "Warden Jenson" and we swear, no one is meaner than him. If he doesn't approve of your behavior even if you're just sitting down during break time he will get the guards to take you away, and no one has ever came back in one piece. Be careful. We can all be mean at times, we are prisoners after all but we look out for our own." Milo said. At least we knew he didn't have the heart of a stone cold statue. He was wearing a black jacket over his prison outfit which was just a basic prison outfit, it matched everyone else's. His ear cuff went from the top to the bottom of his ear and was in the shape of a dragon with a painted rose in its tail, it reminded Keona of Oliver for a reason. Oliver seemed to be Milos weak spot, they seemed close. "So, what's the plan." Keona said. Agreeing with the others that they needed to get out and do it fast before any of them ended up being one of the people that got "taken" by the warden. "We want to be able yo sneak out and see the world." Josiah said. Straight to the point, Keona liked that. "I don't know if this is any help to us, but there is a loose window in my cell. It's bars look like they could fall apart. Could we use that?" Keona said. "What about alarms?" Josiah and Freya said. "We could just let them ring. We are all fast not to mention, Freya could probably kill all of the guards if she wanted to-" Just as Milo was about to finish his sentence and intercom was heard. "Training time. Everyone go to the field." A voice was heard and all of the kids went running, Keona following behind them."Battle of the reward" was the name of the event being held in the field of the Juvenile Delinquent prison where Keona and his new allies were being held. "What the heck is a 'Battle of the Reward?' And what is the point of it?" Keona asked Josiah who was standing next to him, kind of like a protective big brother. "It's endurance and skills competition, Freya is the strongest one here and once every two months the warden allows a chance for people to beat her and if you can he gives you better food for a week. It doesn't sound like much but it's better than eating slob." Josiah explained. Keona was very interested with this, it sounded like a chance to get a name and title here but he didn't want to become a target so quickly. He wanted to watch and see who to stay away from. It was an opportunity for him to choose a safer and smarter pathway. "Does anyone take part in it? If they know Freya is the strongest why would the try?" Keona said. "Because in order to survive, you have to have Atleast one battle. Whether it's with yourself or with an enemy or friend. Could be verbal or physical but either way, if you don't try you'll die real quick." Josiah said. Just as Keona was about to reply, he saw a tall man, he looked at least seventeen and he had a scar that went from his eyebrow to his eyelid walk up to the battle field. Keona began to worry for Freya. "Don't worry. She'll be fine. Freya never loses." Milo said. "Ah so we have a competitor, Mr prisoner 5607 and Miss Freya, prisoner 6302." The warden spoke and then continued. "When I give you permission to start you can start your battle. If it gets too rough I will interfere. Ready and begin!" The warden finished and immediately the man going up against Freya went running towards here with his fist up in the air. He looked determined and upset. Angry almost. He was inches away from Freya but she dodged his attack with ease and easily went to the other side of the "battle field" easily. Prisoner 5607 was not giving up, he ran right back to Freya but stopped in the middle and when Freya went to avoid he grabbed her by her hair and slung her body of her head. Her body slammed into the floor and she didn't move. "Prisoner 6302, can you move?" The warden spoke. No answer was heard, but actions were made. Freya secretly grabbed the older mans ankle and even though she was much smaller than her opponent she had performed the same move he did on her, but hers had a bigger impact. There was a hole in the ground and the man was not getting up anytime soon. "Alright. Miss Freya is the winner once again. Guards please take the two competitors to the infirmary." The warden spoke and two guards had to come pick up Freya opponent while she just limped behind them.
"Another battle, won by Freya. Then again, that was expected." Oliver said and all the boys went back to do their own thing. All he could do was hope Freya was okay.As the prisoners went back to their own thing but the Warden had other plans. "Guard, make sure prisoner 6302 does not walk again. It'll help all of the boys realize they should get stronger."
