You hated always being away from Natasha it hurt everytime you heard from her she got hurt on a mission but was "Okay" knowing she clearly wasn't made your heart shatter.
You got drafted to Afghanistan 2 years ago and was finally going back to new york in two weeks to surprise her.
"2 weeks" You mumbled while training "You've been saying two weeks all day,What's in two weeks?"
"Oh I forgot to tell you,I'm going back to new york in two weeks and I'm gonna surprise her" You smiled
Jessica frowned "I'm gonna miss you" She sat down her weights to give you a hug
"You only have a month,if you need a place to stay you know where I am" You smiled and squeezed her
--An week later--
You tried to call Natasha for your weekly call and she didn't answer that made you confused but made up she'll call back
--The week of the flight--
After the farewell ceremony you excitedly packed and hugged your friends good bye after saluting Sargent Smith goodbye
You boarded your flight happier than ever bouncing with anticipation.You twirled the dogtags that said Y/L/N,Y/N 2024.
You couldn't sleep the whole flight and your neighbor probably got annoyed of you counting the hours
You got into a rental car and drove to the compound your face fell when it looked almost abandoned
You rang Nat but she didn't answer and because it was around 2am you justified it as she was asleep
You then called Clint who was the next best thing "Hey Clint" You smiled into the phone
"Hey how's the army life treating you" He asked his voice shaking a bit "Good,What's wrong you sound weird?" You noticed
"No one called you...did they" He choked
"No..About w-what" Your voice shook
"She's gone " Your eyes went blank and you started sobbing
"She...She uh sacrificed herself"
--At Natasha's funeral--
Your heart twisted in your chest as you saw her urn just sitting there
"She wanted her body donated to science but we couldn't do that to you" Laura came up behind you
You chuckled "She was such a good person"
"She was..." Laura put her hand on your shoulder
"You can stay as long as you'd like" Pepper smiled "That's okay I wouldn't want to intrude" You smiled and hugged her before walking out the door
"Bye" you waved to her and Morgan
You purposely left the urn at Pepper's knowing that was the reason she was calling
You hung up the phone
