Chance in Love?

Chapter 8: State

Josh's POV

I was with my mate watching the television in our living room, when Ethan mind linked me.

'Can you bring us food?' he asked

'Sure' I replied

'But what do you mean by us?'

'My mate is already awake. Now hurry up she is hungry' he said calmly

'Okay I will bring food for you two. I will also ask Mina to come with me' I replied

"Babe, Aria is awake. And Ethan is asking me to bring food. Do you want to check on her?" I asked my mate since she is our pack doctor so she should check Aria's condition.

"Sure. Come now" she said, then she headed to our room to change clothes and I did the same.

"What kind of food can we buy for Aria by the way?" I asked, looking at my mate's direction. We are now heading to the hospital to bring food for them.

"She only woke up from a coma, so light food is the only thing she can eat. You can buy her a porridge or soup. As for Ethan you know what is his favorite so you can manage" she said with a smile

"Yes ma'am I will buy it now." I said and she started to laugh

"I will go there first to check on Aria's condition" she said and kissed me on the cheek. Then she entered the pack's hospital

Ethan's POV

I helped Aria find a better lying position on the hospital bed, when someone knocked at the door. I let her in, and guess who it is, Mina the doctor who checked on her and the mate of my Beta.

"So how are you feeling Aria? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" she asked

"I'm fine. Just a little sore" Aria replied

"Well then, that's great. Maybe by tomorrow you can go home. We will just observe you for the night to see if there is any problem or infection in your wounds, since you heal slower than normal werewolves." Mina explained while checking Aria's wound and placing a new set of bandage in it.

"Thank you" Aria replied

"Ethan, can I talk to you outside for a minute?" Mina asked me

"Sure" I replied, even though I don't want to leave my mate alone, I followed Mina outside because maybe what she will say is important.

We started talking when we're out of Aria's earshot.

"What are we going to talk about? that we have to leave Aria alone" I asked

"So far her wounds are healed but her wolf is still not showing it's presence because she is still weak and malnourished." she started

"Will her wolf come back?" I asked, starting to panic

"Yes, her wolf will come back when her body is back to it's shape" she said, calming me down but there is still a frown plastered on my face

"But I'm not sure about her mental state. She seemed shaken, and we have to always keep her calm so that she will not do what she did last time. Also when I was checking her there are traces of cuts, wounds and bruises in her body. And I think it's from abuse" she sadly mentioned and that made me growl and frown even more

"She also has some broken bones and other injuries that is left untreated for a long time." she added

"Who in the world would dare to harm my mate!" I yelled fuming in anger

"Calm down she will hear you" Mina warned so I shut my mouth up and tried think about it silently.

"Oh here comes Josh" Mina said, getting my attention

"Alpha I brought your food and of course your mate's food" Josh said politely

"Thanks, Mina let's talk about it later" I told to her

"Of course. I'll wait for you later Alpha" Mina replied with a serious expression. She and Josh left after that.

Then I got back to Aria's room in the hospital and bring her our food.

Aria's POV

After Ethan mind linked his beta to bring us food, he helped me became comfortable with my lying position. A while later a woman who looked like a doctor entered my room.

"So how are you feeling Aria? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" she asked

"I'm fine. Just a little sore" I replied

"Well then, that's great. Maybe by tomorrow you can go home. We will just observe you for the night to see if there is any problem or infection in your wounds, since you heal slower than normal werewolves." she explained while checking my wound and placing a new set of bandage in it.

"Thank you" I replied

After that she asked Ethan to go out with her. Even though he looks like he doesn't want to leave me, he followed her outside of my room.

After a long time they haven't got back and I am starting to get bored and hungrier. I slowly stood up from my bed and head to the door. I can hear Ethan and the woman talking but the words are not clear. I only understood the words 'wolf' and 'mental'. I tried placing my ear close to the door so I can hear more but I got scared when I heard Ethan yelled.

"Who in the world would dare to harm my mate!" he yelled, and right now I think he is fuming with anger. The woman said something to him but it is inaudible so I stopped eavesdropping and lied back down on my bed.

After a minute of two, Ethan came back with a porridge for me and another set of food for him. He explained that I can only eat light meals for now since I just woke up from a coma.

We ate happily talking about our favorite things and hobbies. I am thankful that he didn't ask about my past and we just happily enjoyed our day and conversations. After eating we watched the television then I fell asleep in his arms.
