Chapter 1
The NY wind was blowing as Joe Mcintyre was walking with his kids, Gage, Beckett, and Giselle through the streets. He had stepped out today to do some fundraising work with an organization that collected donations to feed those who couldn't afford Thanksgiving dinner, shopped for a pair of sunglasses, and picked up the kids from school. They had stopped for ice and now the family was heading back towards their apartment on the Subway.
"Guys I need for you to be nice this new Nanny please," Joe was telling the kids. He had hired help to watch the kids because Bethany didn't really unless she was forced to.
"I'm too old for a babysitter!" Gage exclaimed upset, he was ten years old and thought he was all grown up now.
"Look guys as a parent I can't leave you guys home alone especially while I'm working a lot," he tried to explain.
"But Mom's there," Beckett said quietly," Why do we need someone else to watch us?"
"I don't want a Nanny," Giselle pipped in.
"Guys slow down," Joe said to the kids," Can we talk about this on the walk back to the apartment. It's almost our stop."
The kids gave in and decided to finish eating the ice cream that they had picked up on their walk towards the Subway Station after school. He didn't know how he was going to get them to trust Anabella, the Nanny he had hired. When their stop was announced all of them got up and headed off as the doors slid open. They stepped off and walked through the station to exit out onto the streets and started walking towards their apartment building.
"Mommy needs a break from watching you guys all of the time," Joe finally said. It was a lie since Bethany seemed to honestly do zero. She either slept in or was crashed out on the sofa watching trashy television.
All three of them looked at their father and were not sure what to even say to this, they knew their mother never came out of the house with them to do things, not in the same manner that their father did.
"Okay," Gage sighed, after a moment," I will give her a chance."
"Me too," Beckett replied.
"I guess," Giselle said.
They finally reached the street that their apartment was on and they turned onto it, walking towards the building. They entered the building and took the elevator up to their floor, and Joe pulled out the key to unlock the front door. Anabella would be coming over in a few minutes to meet the kids for the first time and stay with them, while Joe did some work here at the apartment.
"Have you met her dad? Is she nice?" Giselle asked.
" I interviewed her, sweetie. I had a long talk with her, she's very nice. She just moved here, she used to watch her nephews. So she has a lot of experience with kids. She's a student and works another job as well. So I think you will like her," Joe said to Giselle.
" But why can't Mommy stay with us?" Giselle wanted to know. The bedroom door of the master bedroom was closed, obviously, Bethany was sleeping.
"Because mommy needs a break and now she won't feel pressured to do more than she has to," he said, lying for her again.
Giselle didn't really seem to want to accept that answer. The boys were occupied with something or the other. Beckett with legos building something, Gage was reading a graphic novel camped out on the sofa. " I'll meet her but I don't have to like her," Giselle warned him.
"But you will be respectful..." Joe said firmly.
Giselle frowned and didn't answer. She didn't want this Babysitter at all. So she just crossed her arms over her chest and looked at her Dad.
