Chapter 2

Alberto's POV:

Alberto woke up late... again. What? It wasn't his fault! When he slept outside he would wake up with the sun and have a full day of adventure waiting for him. And while he still had the adventure part, he now slept inside a cozy house in a cozy bed, and that was basically just an invitation to sleep in!

He tried to get out of bed swiftly but ended up just tripping over the sheets and falling hard on his face. Great. Now he wasn't only late, but he might also have a black eye!

Since Alberto chose to stay with Massimo instead of going to school with Luca and Giulia, Massimo has taken it upon himself to homeschool Alberto to the best of his abilities. That is what Massimo was going to do until apparently he realized that, even though he was good at teaching Alberto how to cook, and eat correctly, and how to ride a bike, Massimo wasn't very good at teaching Science, English, and Math.

Luckily there were two very nice elderly women, who also happen to be sea people, that were happy to teach Alberto every that they knew, which happens to be a lot.

While Alberto wasn't what you would call excited about the idea of school, he was very determined to learn how to read and write so that he could read and respond to Luca's letters. Oh how Alberto loves Luca's letters. Even though when Alberto first started to received the letters and he couldn't read them all that well, he would stay up almost all night looking at them. Looking at the words that Luca wrote for him.

Since Alberto couldn't write very well he usually put a lot of doodles in the letters that he sends to Luca. Like on the days he went out for ice cream he would draw a little ice cream cone with a face and legs dancing. Alberto really is brilliant isn't he?

Alberto kept all of Luca's precious letters in an old box he had been able to find on the island. He then kept the box under the bed where only he can find them and no one else.

Staying with Massimo also meant that, at least during the school year,  Alberto took Giulia's room. Well, he didn't exactly take her room. The room was still hers Alberto was just using it till her and Luca come back next summer. Alberto didn't change much other than take down a few of her decorations to put up some of he own, which included the doodle he made of him and Luca on a Vespa when they first met.

He quickly got dressed in his yellow sweatshirt tucking it into his light tan pants. This new outfit of his was a gift from Massimo for when it started to get colder. Taking a second to look at himself in the mirror just to make sure he looked ok for when him and Luca talk on the telephone later. He knows that Luca won't be able to see him but it isn't weird to want to look nice for someone! Especially when it comes to your best friend!

After making sure he looked okay, Alberto shot his fingers into the mirror at himself making the shape of two small guns and winked before he headed downstairs to begin the day!
