The Love of an Earth Goddess

Zeus's Gift

Earth wandered for three cycles of the moon until she found herself in the middle of the desert, parched and with no water in sight. She could not even cry in her distress. Her rivers no longer flowed freely and her lakes were just dried up craters.
As she laid her exhausted body to rest in the desert hills, she prayed that the sun would dawn on brighter day.
She woke to the feel of cool water soothing her sun baked skin. She peeked open her eyes to find that it was drizzling on her. Earth sat up, closing her eyes and tilted her face up to the sky to feel the water fall from the sky. She giggled with delight as the rain started to fall a little harder, starting to run through her hair.
"I can make it rain even more, if you desire," a voice behind her startled her. Earth whipped around to face the stranger, her eyes taking in a kind- looking man, with eyes as blue as the lapis lazul found in her hills, sitting on a rock a ways behind her.
"Who are you?" She managed out.
"OH, my, I'm so sorry, of course. Where are my manners? I probably scared you. My name is Zeus, God of the sky. I was passing through and felt you needed my assistance. You are looking better already," he said, gesturing to her body.
"When I found you I could barely distinguish where you ended and the desert began." Earth looked down at her body and was happy to see her hills looking a bit more refreshed and her rivers and lakes were starting to trickle.
"Did you want it to rain a little harder? I can tell the clouds, if you want," Zeus offered.
"Maybe a little," she conceded. And as soon as she asked there was a rumble in the sky overhead and the rain came down in great big and fast raindrops. He laughed as she gasped in delight as the water washed the desert from her skin, flowed through her canyons and river beds, and flooded her lakes.
