"Practice makes perfect" a popular proverb that everyone in the music industry believed. Even professional musicians needed to practice ensuring optimal results during their performances. In the Blitzkrieg Symphonic Band, practices and rehearsals had been an integral part of their everyday lives.

It was raining when Miggy and Sherry arrived at the Beloved University. He expected occasional downpours like this during this time of the year. Miggy came prepared. He always had an umbrella in his bag out of habit.

"Ano Sherry may payong ka?" Miggy asked.

"Meron, teka, nandito lang yon," Sherry said as she rummaged through her bag.

"Aha! Tada!" Sherry pulled out the pink umbrella from her bag like a magician.

"Hahaha. Aning!" Miggy laughed.

The two of them walked through the rain on their way to band room.

When they arrived at the band room, the practice had already started. Xander was the one conducting.

"Hoy, late kayo!" Xander yelled. The sound of the heavy rain pounding on the roof was too loud.

"Ang lakas ng ulan!" Miggy yelled back.

They went inside the office to get their instruments and join the practice. The office was empty. Miggy expected that Mr. El was inside the office. Baka na stranded din siya ng ulan. Sherry assembled her clarinet and tried it. She hadn't played for a long time, so the clarinet squeaked.

Miggy joined the practice first. Sherry was still fixing her instrument. He went straight to his seat and saw a new member sitting there. It was the chubby boy during the orientation. Miggy sat beside him.

"Hello," the boy greeted.

"Hi." Miggy replied.

"Bakit wala kang instrument?"

The boy scratched his head. "Sabi po ni kuya Xander 'wag na muna po akong humawak ng instrument."

Miggy looked at Xander, who was now badmouthing the trumpet section.

"Ok. Isa pa! ang dali-dali lang niyan 'di niyo pa makuha!" Xander tapped the baton on his music stand.

The band resumed its practice. Xander set the tempo of the piece with his preparatory beat.

Mr. El arrived wearing an olive green poncho raincoat. He gestured the band to stop playing and asked Xander to sit down.

"Pasensya na, sobrang lakas ng ulan." Mr. El said, as an opening statement.

"Ok, Meron lang akon kaunting announcement bago kayo umuwi."

Tungkol na ba 'to sa Harana Concert? Miggy thought.

"First, malapit na ang Simbang Gabi kaya kailangan niyo ng mag-practice para doon."

"Sino gusto sumali?" Mr. El asked.

Almost everyone in the room raised their hands, except for the senior members. They already knew that Mr. El would always choose them instead of the junior members.

"Ok. Miggy, ikaw na bahala sa practice nito ha. I'll post the names ng mga kasali sa bulletin board."

"Ok po." Miggy replied

"Next announcement, Sa Friday may darating tayo na bisita kaya dapat lahat kayo present."

"Yes, Sir." Everyone said in unison.

"Final announcement. Last week nag-meeting na kami ng iba pang mga band director tungkol sa HARANA Concert sa April."

Miggy sat straight and listened carefully.
