There was so much laughter around him. But it wasn't the light hearted one. It wasn't the laughter of Joy. It was cruel and begrudging. The sole origin of it being hatred.
Jisung bit his lips to keep quiet. He couldn't do anything but stand still in his royal blue velvet layers and listen to the murmurs and whispers being carried in the stale air of the castle.
Minho stood a few feets away from him. Head down and shoulders tensed. He wanted nothing more than to ease him and whisper sweet things against his skin.
He couldn't. He tightened his hold on his sword, knuckles white from the force and held his head up. He would protect Minho at any cost.
The crowd of royals calmed down a bit, a silent agreement of reigning their mouths as the piano started playing in the background. Nimble fingers running over it gracefully. A silhouette of blue and silver. Another person next to him in gold and rose pink with a guitar in his hands.
The royals moved along, finding a companion to dance with, swaying lightly with the music.
Jisung glanced at Minho again and then at the cuffs around his hands. The itch to break them was getting stronger with each passing second. He looked at changbin, holding the contact and ready to beg, feeling sick on seeing Minho like that.
Changbin shook his head, subtle enough to go unnoticed, in lieu nudged his head slightly to the throne. Chan stood next to the king, a sword in his hand that Jisung had himself polished to perfection and coated with viper's poison.
Chan didn't look at him. But the shift of his leather boots was enough to notify Jisung.
The bells rang, It was time, indicating the arrival of Aristocrat's other slaves. The people he won in the war. They entered quietly, heads held down and posture defeated, as if already resigning to their sorrowful fate.
In front of them stood lee felix. Dressed in yellows and golden veil over his face, covering the map of stars across them. He smiled. It reeked of hatred so much so Jisung could feel it even with the veil over his face.
The Aristocrat's laugh echoed around the castle. His pruney face marred with wrinkles and old age, and then some with his crimes.
"Look who is here" He paused, unable to contain his glee " Felix " God he said his name with so much mirth, Jisung wanted to slice the bastard. He couldn't fathom how Chan was holding himself back. "The sun. Bowing before me."
Felix arched his eyebrow, amusement swirling in his eyes as spoke. "I know you are getting old monarch. But delusional? Hmm that's a first." The laughter in the monarch's face died down, jaw tensing as he glared at him.
"You think you are in a position to mouth? Did you forget the boy in clutches? Want to see your lover die?" Felix's eyes travelled to Minho, hands falling away from his sword as his eyes softened a bit. Minho still hadn't looked up.
Felix loved Minho. But he didn't know Minho's body like Jisung did. He wasn't ever on the recieving end of that fond look Minho saved just for Jisung. He wasn't the one Minho chased after when he needed someone to comfort him. Felix loved Minho. But he wasn't in love with him. His lover stood right next to the Monarch, with hands gripping the poisoned sword.
"Just as I thought. Poor sun falling in love with a mortal as if didn't know better." He said condescendingly. Felix laughed at the irony.
"Mortal? Damn old age sure is getting to you." Felix said, eyes now on Chan as if giving him the cue to lash out anytime soon.
The king roared. "What do you mean?" He looked at Minho who stared right back at him. Eyes shining with magic, a bitter smile on his face and the light on moon around him like just the shadows.
"You wanted to meet the sun and the moon right. Here we are." He said. Realisation dawned upon the monarch pupils dilating in terror as waves of fear made it's way to Jisung. The monarch shifted to lift his sword but he was too late. Always too late.
Chan was on him. The sword holding him in a trance as he brought it near his throat.
"You talked about love right? I am his lover and my love brings the sun his strength. We don't weaken each other. You know nothing of love. Say goodbye you old wench." With one slash he was on the ground, crimson blood flowing down as if taunting the very being of humanity. Humans who fears the celestial but are monsters themselves.
Jisung immediately rushed to Minho taking his hands gently , which were now free of any clutches, as he pressed feather ligh kisses on the bruises made by the shambles and hugged him tightly. Minho went lax in his hold letting Jisung hold him as long as he wanted, letting the breezy smell of lavender and sea that he had started considering as home envelope him.
"I am alright." Minho said after a few seconds. But he looked so weak. Jisung wanted to wrap him in safety bundles and protect him till the healthy glow of moonlight was back in his eyes.
"Guys we need to go now. Take the hostages with you seungmin and Jeongin." Chan commanded as he pulled Felix closer, looking for any injuries and kissed him lightly as he found none. Changbin took out his sword, swinging it in air as a portal of darkness emerged out. The revolution will start. Not now. But soon. The monarch was already dead.
However, at the moment Jisung's sole priority was felix and his beautiful moon.
"Let's take you back home" Jisung whispered "My moon."
