It's Too Late

Chapter 51

~Dorothy~

"Reggie, please sleep my babyboy." I plead as the sounds of my crying child grows louder.
"Mamma needs sleep as well please." The wailing did not stop for hours, but he finally calmed down and I fell on the couch with a glass of wine. He looks like me except for his eyes, he got Kevin's eyes.
Crying by myself. Edcard rejected me, I knew he would after I told him my history. He was enraged to say the least.
Calling me a power-hungry bitch and I deserved it.
I deserve his rejection, his anger.
I could never forgive myself for sleeping with Kevin, making my best friend loose her child and here I am with a child of her ex-mate.
Just what kind of person am I for that?
I don't deserve Edcard, not after all that.

A knock came from the front door and I frown in confusion. No one knows where I live.
I open the door carefully, but froze when I saw who it was.
"What are you doing here?" I step back as he stepped forward.
He didn't say anything, my heart was beating wildly.
"How did you find me?" I ask but again he said nothing, just stalked my way until I was trapped against the wall and his scent engulfs me.
He rest his head on my shouler as he growls. My body shook, tears streaming out of my eyes.
Suddenly he claimed my lips and I was frozen for a moment, but I quickly responded, scared that this was a dream.
He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around him as I was pushed against the wall.
"Why?" He mumbles as he kissed me down my neck and suck on the spot where his mark would have been.
"Why can't I forget you?" He growls and continued to assult my neck. I let him do as he pleases. I needed him and this was one of those moments that I would not let past.
I did not reply to him, scared that he would snap out of it and leave.
"Dorothy." He growled and claimed my lips again, his tung evading my mouth and I pulled on his hair.
"Bedroom." He growled while nipping at my neck.
"Second door to the right." I whisper.
He quickly carried me to the room and thew me on the bed, ripping my clothes apart while getting rid of hos own.
"You're so beautiful my mate." He whispered as he buried himself deep inside of me.
We made love for hours and hours on end, our bodies coverd on each others scent and sweat until we fell alseep from exhaustion.

The next morning I woke up to an empty bed with Edcard nowhere to be found, his lingering scent told me that he left a while ago. I laugh, what was I expecting? That he would take me back after all that?
Truly how foolish I am.
Still my heart warmed, atleast I have last night to treasure forever.

Two years have passed since then and I haven't seen or heard from Edcard at all. I work at a bakery shop in town, turns out I can actually bake really good. The people rave about my baked goodies and I have become very proud of that.
"Nancy I'm heading off now!" I yell to the owner who is a nice old lady.
"Alright deary! Take some pies along home."
"Thanks Nancy!"

I got home from work when a small body runs into me.
"Mamma!"
"Reggie my boy, have you been good today?" My son nods his head enthusiastically.
"I painted pictures with Eddie."
I pick him up and spin him around.
"Oh did you now?" He giggled.
"Stop it mommy!" He squirmed out of my arms to run away.
Alice comes out with Eddie on her hip. Alice is one of my best friends and sometimes look after my boys.
"Thanks for looking after them Alice." I hand her a pie and she happily munch on it while I take Eddie from her.
He immediately nuzzled his head between my breast and laid there happily sucking on his thumb, clearly he's going down for a nap soon.
He looks like Edcard more and more each day.
Turns out my one night of passion with my mate got me pregnant with Edward. He's the cutest little boy who looks exactly like Edcard.
"Well I got to go, my hubby is waiting at home." She carefully hugs me and left.
"Come on boys, it's time for your nap."
Reginald disliked naps, Edward on the other hand couldn't nap enough.
They are polar opposites of each other but boy were they attached to the hip at times.
"Don't make me sleep Momma." Reggie pouts but with one look from me he slowly makes his way to their room.
"No I'm not changing my mind Reggie. Walking slowly will not change that." He stomps and runs off to his room.
"That boy." I mumbled as I walk to their room.
I slowly put Eddie in the cot so that he won't wake up from his slumber.
I tuck in Reggie.
"When you're done napping there is pies from Auntie Nancy." I whispered and his eyes sparkled and he closed his eyes tightly to show that he will sleep.
"Sleep tight." I kiss his forehead and closed the door.

I might not have been the best person to have mated Kevin, but I sure as hell will try to be the best person I can be now so that I can be the best mom for my boys. It's too late to redo the past, but I'll do my best to be the best for them.

Reggie and Eddie are sitting at a booth where I can see them from where I was working. Eddie was casually sleeping, again, and Reggie was coloring something in his picture book.
So quiet for a change.
The day went by and it was almost closings time, all the customers have left so I began cleaning up so long.
The door opened and it was a cloaked person.
"Is this the place where I would find the famous strawberry jam tart?" That voice.
"Uhm yeah, that's us."
"I'd like one please and a cup of oolong tea please."
"Comming up Mam."
Why did her voice sound so familiar?

I go get the tart and when I went back I see that Reggie was sitting casually on the lady's lap, talking about something as his hands fly everywhere.
I quickly rush to get Reggie off of her lap.
"I'm so sorry, he doesn't usually sit on strangers lap, I apologize."
Before she could say anything a guy, that looks like a knight, storms in looking frantic but calmed down when he looked at the woman's way.
"Your Grace, don't just wonder off without me." He schooled her.
Your Grace?
"Oh relax Harold, I'm just greeting an old friend." My eyes grew wide as she finally reveals herself.
"Announcing Her Royal Highness, Queen Anastasia Blackwood of the Vampire clan." Harold announced her formally and she rolled her eyes.
"Cici?" She smiled so casually while resting her head on her hands.
"How are you D? Is see motherhood has been good to you." She says looking at my sleeping boy and then to Reggie who is back on her lap.
"I..." I was too shocked to say anything.
She just casually sipped on her tea while I couldn't say a word. It's been four years since I last saw her.
"What's the little boy's name?"
"Oh his name his Edward! But we call him Eddie." Reginald answered for me.
"What a handsome name." She coed.
"Anastasia I'm sorry!" I yelled out as I fell to my knees crying.
"For what I have done, I could never ask you to forgive me."
She said nothing back for a few minutes, but I couldn't get myself to look at her as I cried.
"It's too late to ask my forgiveness, Dorothy." I clench my fist together, I knew that.
"Because I forgave you a long time ago." I look up in shock, her smile felt so gentle and kind.
"You, you have? But I've done nothing to deserve it."
She eats a piece of the tart and moans.
"You really have grown so much Dorothy." She gives the rest of the tart to Reggie, who happily accepted it. It is his favorite tart after all.
Then an overwhelming power radiated through the place when someone stepped in.
The vampire king, he looked more frightening up close.
"Beloved, we must go now." He says while eyeing me on the floor.
Anastasia stood up.
"I suppose." She says and kissed Reggie's head.
"Keep well Dorothy." She says before she leaves.
"Auntie CiCi is nice, isn't she Momma?" Reggie raves while devouring his tart with less grace than Anastasia.
"Auntie CiCi?" He nodds. "Yeah, I see her in my dreams all the time."
