November 23rd, 2019~

I get woken up by the sound of my Mom singing 'Happy Birthday'. I take a shower, put clothes on, and walk out to my car. I drive to work, the traffic on the way eerily light. As I exit my car, walking through the side door, I see Chase getting out of his white pickup truck across the lot. He grabs his things from out of the car and runs toward me. "Happy Birthday!" He exclaims, out of breath. He digs inside of his backpack for a few seconds before pulling out a purple envelope with my name on it. I look up at him, his cheeks now pink. "Thanks, Hudson." I tell him, carefully placing the envelope in my own backpack. When we get inside, my favorite Starbucks drink and a $50 bill are sitting on the counter, along with a sticky note that reads: Happy Birthday, Liz! :) I shake my head and take a sip of the drink.

In a few hours, I head out to lunch and check my phone for the first time in a few hours. I see a message from Sam, my very on and off boyfriend/hoe. I respond quickly and drive to McDonald's, where he wanted to meet for lunch. I pull into the parking space next to his car and walk inside to see him in a corner booth. I walk over and sit next to him. "Hey love, fancy seeing you here" He winks at me. I blush and he hands me a small box. "I do suppose I'd owe you a proper gift, yeah?" He asks. I begin to shove the box into my pocket, but I'm interrupted right away. "Open it now please? I'd love to see your reaction." He begs, a smile spreading across his face after I nod slowly in response. I open the box, revealing a small envelope. I carefully peel it open and read the message. Be mine? No more fucking around, I promise. It reads. I look up to see Sam smiling down at me. I blush and he gently takes the box from my hands, getting down on one knee. "Liz, will you make me the luckiest man in the world and be my girlfriend?" He asks. I nod, watching as he takes a ring from the box and slides it onto my finger, it fitting perfectly. He leans in and our faces remain inches apart. I close the distance between us, our lips connecting for a few seconds before we both pull away, smiles spreading across our faces at the same time.

On the drive back to work, I didn't stop smiling. For the rest of the day, I fiddled with the ring on my finger and smiled to myself. When I got home from work later that day, I opened the card from Chase. It was just a simple Birthday card, but inside he wrote I may not have known you for longer than a day, But that day was long enough for me to be certain that you're the best person I'll ever meet. I love you Liz, have an amazing day. We'll be best friends, I promise I won't leave you. I smile gently, placing it into the envelope. I love him too.

Hi loves. It's been a super stressful/busy week for me. I've been lacking motivation for most of it, but I'm trying my best to keep with the two chapters a week I promised you. I love you and I'll publish another chapter soon <3
