A/N: Just one more quick thing that I forgot about; This will not follow any cannon events from either the manga or the anime, though some of those events may be mentioned. Otherwise this is just pure, unfounded nonsense as I see fit. That's it.
<~^~>
"So..."
The sound of his voice breaking the awkward silence brought you out of your own head. Which caused you to flinch. Which caused him to flinch. Currently, the two of you were seated atop some random building. It was quiet up there, and being up here would draw less attention to the two of you. You had zoned out, overcome by the many thought that swam around in your mind.
What's going to happen to me now?
How will I get back home?
What even just happened?
Is this some kind of fucked up dream?
That last question had been easy enough to answer. You absentmindedly pinched yourself several times over the past several minutes, finding the view you zoned out over never changed each time. This was real. The very thing you'd been talking about with your friend only moments ago had actually happened, and in the most unexpected and terrifying way possible. Lucky for you, or maybe unluckily, the #2 pro hero, Hawks, had just happened to come along and catch you. You turned your gaze to the winged man next you, the expression on your face a mix of nerves and wonder. His expression mirrored yours as he returned your gaze.
"Anyways..." he paused, sighing as he thought how best to phrase what he wanted to ask. "About earlier..."
"I don't know," you could barely force your vocie above a whisper. It just didn't want to work with you.
Hawks nodded in response, though. He'd heard you well enough.
"Right. So, then, what now?"
"I don't know."
Once agian, he nodded. Things fell silent and awkward between the two of you again. Honestly, if he hadn't seen it for himself, he doubted he'd believe it if you told him your story. Much like most anybody likely would if they asked. But he had seen it. And he definetly believed it. He even used the same pinching technique you did to make sure that days events were absolutley not a dream. Unsurprisingly, this was as real for him as it was for you.
"I'm sorry, for crashing into you."
Hawks blinked, looking over at you.
"What are you apologizing for? It's not like what happened was your fault."
"I know, but..."
"No. No 'buts'. Unless you opened that wierd hole with your own two hands and jumped in on purpose, which I doubt you did, then I don't wanna hear any apologies from you, kid."
You flinched again at his words. You had always been the type of person the apologize for everything, wether it was your fault or not. It was just a habit. But the way he told you off for it... Well, you could feel tears pricking the corners of your eyes. Hawks saw this, and his expression softened.
"Aww, please don't cry, kid. I didn't mean to be so harsh about it."
He placed a gloved hand on your shoulder, grasping it firmly in a reassuring way. You brought you hands to your face to rub your eyes. It didn't stop the tears from flowing, though. They were't caused by the feeling of being chastized; no, they were caused by the overwheling fear for your prospective future. You were't outright sobbing, but still crying. The realization hit you that you had nothing, right now. Nothing but the clothes on your back, and your phone that had somehow managed to remain in your pocket throughout this whole ordeal. But you had nowhere to go in this city, nowhere to stay, no money, nothing. You'd most certianly die if left on your own. Even Hawks realized this, as he wraped his arms around you, hoping to give you some comfort. He understood you were scared. He would be, too, if he were in your situation.
"Look, I get that this is scary for you. But, speaking as the person you crashed into, I'm not about to leave you to fend for yourself."
You looked at him, though tears blured your vision, making him look fuzzier than he was.
"Y-you don't... have to do t-that..." You said, your voice breaking.
"No. No," He tightened his hold on you. "I'm a hero. And part of that job is helping people in need. And right now, you really need help. So, I'm gonna do you a favor and let you stay at my place until you can get yourself situated."
Hawks released you and stood up. He offered out his hand, giving a proper introduction.
"Name's Keigo, by the way. Keigo Takami."
"(F/L/N)," You introduced yourself, taking his hand and allowing him to pull you to your feet.
You take a minute to wipe your face off, using the sleeve of your shirt as a tissue. (Gross, but hey; You gotta do what you gotta do.) After making sure you wouldn't burst into tears again, Hawks picked you up into his arms and started to fly off in the direction of where you assumed his home was. You made sure to hold onto him tightly. While you didn't mind hights too much, the prospect of falling was a very real one that scared you.
"Hey, don't worry, kid. I'm not gonna drop you."
As if to reassure you of this, he tightened his grip around you. You did the same, though. He chuckled lightly to himself at your reaction as he kept on. Soon enough, you werebeing lowered onto the balcony of a very nice looking top-floor appartment. Inside was very clean and bright and open. A large sectional couch ocupied the main room, sitting opposite to a glass coffee table and a rather unneccesarily large entertainment center that was home to an equally unneccesarily large televison. You could see a few games consoles sitting out that you didn't recognize at all.
Keigo let you in and showed you around the place. It was a pretty big place, in all honesty. But you assumed that the size was meant to accomadate the occupant, big red wings and all. It didn't make any sense to you at all, though, that one man, famous hero or not, occupied a two bed, two bath appartment all by himself.
"I have guests over, sometimes..."
It was a weak explanation. But you brushed it off. You'd be staying in the 'guest room'. It was unremarkable and bare. But the bed was pretty comfy. Right across the hall was a bathroom you could use. It, too, was unremarkable and bare. But at least you did have to worry about sharing; Keigo had an on-suite in his bedroom. The only reson you hadn't turned down his offer was because you really didn't have any other choice. Now you were stuck here, at least until you could get yourself situated. Keigo offered to help you with anything you needed, though the biggest issue you saw was the fact that you most likely didn't exisit in this world. And you coudn't just suddenly pop into existance without raising some questions.
This is going to be complicated...
