Jasper's POV

It was a dreadful Monday afternoon. Everyday, all day was dreadful.

I sat in the loud Cafeteria in Forks High School silently as my adopted siblings conversed something about Edward. I didn't care to listen. I was too focused on not leaping out of my seat and killing every human around me. Not out solely out of my thirst for their blood, but mainly because they were so god damn annoying.

"Jasper"

I ignored Alice's whispers as I looked out the window that peeked into the wet parking lot. Like most days here in Forks, it was raining. I loved the rain, but hated that it meant we could leave the comforts of our house. It was much easier for me to just not leave rather than suffer through long days of school.

I understand that Carlisle wanted us to live a somewhat-normal life here in Forks, or anywhere for that matter. However, years after years of school I already went through was not normal.

It didn't help that everyone around me was happy-ish. Even happy-ish was one-hundred times better than what I was feeling. I was feeling- well I actually didn't know what I was feeling. Even me, someone who could manipulate and sense emotions, had no idea what I was feeling. I was lost.

"Jasper" Alice whispered again. I looked at her with a half-cocked eyebrow to show my sort-of-interest which was not even interest at all. I just wanted to get her to stop bothering me.

"Do you need to take a step outside? You've been very-"

Alice was drowned out of my mind as I looked up at the doors from the window. There I saw the most pure, most beautiful, and most intoxicating being ever placed in the line of my sight.

He wasn't human, that was for sure. His pale skin matched ours, but his eyes were a dark green. He had softer features than the sharp ones we had. I didn't smell any blood in his stream, but I could hear a faint heartbeat in his chest. It seemed to speed up as I noticed him looking at me.

"Jasper"

I once again ignored Alice, but this time she wasn't calling to me about me being distant. This time it was about the gorgeous being standing in front of the doors.

He seemed to be lost, confused on where to go. However, he didn't seem to be scared. He had this confidence to him which I envied. Without thinking, I stood up and walked over to him swiftly, controlling the urge to run over there.

"Hello" I said calmly, approaching the strange being. His scent was intoxicating. He smelt of vampire venom but at the same time he had a warm human scent present as well.

"Hi" he said, scanning me from head to toe. I was a head taller than the smaller boy. He

"My name's Jasper Hale" I bowed slightly, my southern instincts wanting to take over. "And you are" I asked, straightening my posture and putting my hands behind my back.

"Y/N Y/L/N" he replied with a smooth tone. His voice was soft like butter. He had what seemed like a New Zealand accent.

"Would you like a place to sit?" I asked, watching as the boy's face turned slightly red on his cheeks and nose. He looked down at the floor as he realized he was blushing. His black, wavy, shoulder length hair fell in his face as he did so.

"I was actually going to go outside for lunch" he said, looking back up at me, avoiding eye contact.

"Well then Y/N" I paused and watched as he perked up when I said his name. "Allow me to accompany you" I finished.
