a friend

"Hm?" Ryo stopped walking as he felt his phone vibrate and took it out of his pocket. The others stopped as well to wait for the boy to read his message. Ken walked over to his friend's side and peered over his shoulder to take a peek at the phone.

"Who is it?" Ken asked as Ryo opened the LINE message.

"It's from [Name]. She's coming to hand over the notes for an upcoming exam we have."

"Hm? She takes notes for you?" Ken said with a teasing grin.

"Only cause I asked her to."

"She's probably used to it since you two have been doing it since high school," Kou commented.

"Ah her!" Mamoru said as he remembered the mentioned girl. "Should we invite her for dinner?"

"Yeah, maybe we should," Ken nodded, "It's been a while since I've seen her too."

Ryo shook his head, "It's fine, the exam won't be till next week, I can just meet her on campus tomorrow. I'll just tell her to give me the notes tomorrow."

"What are you guys doing?"

"Wah!" The four boys were surprised as you appeared just behind Ryo and Ken. "[Name]-chan!" Ken said in surprise, "What are you-- How did you--"

"I was just going back home from some club thing and thought of handing the notes to Ryo on the way home... What about you guys? Standing just outside your dorm." you asked.

"Ah, Ryo just read your message and we were thinking of inviting you for dinner," Ken explained.

"Oh. Ah... I just ate with my clubmates, sorry." you apologized sheepishly.

"It's fine. They just thought of it since it's been a while since you came to deliver my notes." Ryo said, "I've been getting them when we meet on campus lately after all."

"Yeah... but there are a lot of girls who would want to take down notes for you, Ryo-kun." you said as you took out a notebook and handed it over to him, "I still don't see why you still ask me to take notes for you."

Just before Ryo could take it, Ken grabbed it and scanned the contents, "Cause Ryo's used to your notetaking-- Man, your notes are as organized as ever. Sad that I don't have any lectures with you, [Name]."

You grinned, "Missed my legendary notes, Ken-kun?"

Ken chuckled, "You bet!"

Ryo took back the notebook from Ken and said, "Well like Ken said, you've been taking notes for us since high school, so I'm pretty used to that kind of system."

You hummed in response and responded in a teasing tone, "I see~ Just say you missed me and my amazing notetaking skills~"

Ryo lightly hits you with the notebook, "Stop that."

"Ah. You don't deny you missed me." you dramatically gasped, "I'm dreaming every Sakuraba Ryota fans' dream--"

Ryo sighed as the other three chuckled at their conversation, "Shouldn't you be heading home?"

"Sending me away already? I thought you missed me?"

"I see you in class."

You pouted but sighed, "Fine, whatever. I missed Mamo-chan anyway~"

"Eh?!" Mamoru responded in surprise, "Mamo-chan?" as he pointed at himself.

Ken laughed as he joined in, "Ehhh??? What about me?~"

"O-Of course I missed Ken-kun! Koki-kun as well!"

Kou smiled, "We missed you too, [Name]."

You grinned sheepishly.

Ryo sighed, "You should head home before it gets too late, [Name]."

"Okay mom~"

"Mo--"

"Bye guys~ It was nice seeing you guys again! I'll come over to eat your cooking again, Koki-kun!"

"Send me a message when you get home safely," Ryo said as you waved to them goodbye.

"Yes, mother!" you teased.

Ryo sighed at your tease while Kou chuckled, "Alright, be safe [Name]." he said as he, Mamoru and Ken waved to you goodbye.

As you disappeared from their view, the three finally went inside. Ryo sighed as they entered the elevator, "I swear, that girl."

"You say that, but you enjoy her company," Ken stated as Kou and Mamoru nodded in agreement.

Ryo simply told them, "Well, she's a friend after all."

As Ryo got back to his room from his bath, his phone lit up. He went over to his desk and picked up his phone and saw that you had sent him a LINE message. Opening the message, it said:

I have arrived safely~

And attached was a sticker of his colleague, SolidS' Okui Tsubasa, giving a thumbs up.

Ryo smiled, as he typed a reply, That's good. Don't stay up too late. and sent it.

Not less than a minute did you send him a reply, Why do you sound like a mother?

Didn't you just call me a mother earlier?

It was a joke.

Ryo sighed as he smiled, knowing it all too well, I know. Well, thanks for the notes as usual.

You sent him another sticker, this time of his own unit-mate, Ken, saying "Leave it to me".

He let out a small smile, amused by your usage of stickers; he sent you a good night sticker when he remembered what he told Ken on the elevator.

"You say that, but you enjoy her company"

"Well, she's a friend after all."

"Well..." he looked at the notebook that you just gave him, "It's not a total lie."
