The scent of blood enveloped her entire being and wrapped around her senses, setting her body alight with excitement. It took a moment before she could gather her strength and break through the haze that threatened to pull her back under, but she managed to open her eyes and the sight in front of her both terrified and exhilarated her.

Wounded, bitten, and beaten bodies both dead and on the cusp littered the wood paneled floor in front of her. What had happened? That was when she noticed Damon lying on the floor, directly in front of her, amidst the heap of humans. Bonnie was lying atop a pool table and she appeared to be in a bar.

She hopped down and raced to her love. Being that his body was hidden halfway behind a table, she couldn't get a good look at the damage, but now that she was up close, she could see the bite marks, fading bruises and various other injuries that littered his usually flawless complexion. One question kept coming up the entire time she looked around; why couldn't she remember anything?

She gently shook his shoulders, trying to wake him and when it didn't work, she took matters into her hands. Bonnie dragged one of the almost dead bodies away from the pile and pulled it over to Damon. She put the stranger's wrist to his mouth and held it there until he was able to hold onto it himself and feed.

Two and a half carcasses later, he was able to stand up and give Bonnie some much needed answers. Like just what the hell had happened there that night.

"Wait, you mean you don't remember?" He asked, confused.

"I remember being trapped with that hunter, but it's all blank after that. It's like someone took an eraser and smudged everything out."

Bonnie noticed the conflicted look spread across Damon's face, almost wondering if he should really let her know what had happened.

"Damon, what happened? Did you convince Craig to let us go? Was this some sort of twisted test that we failed?"

"Bonnie, I killed Craig."

She was silent for a moment. "I guess it was either him or us. But that doesn't explain the bodies. And what happened to you."

"It doesn't matter. We're safe now."

That didn't seem like a very Damon-y answer. "I'm not going to be upset if you killed these people, Damon. Just don't lie to me."

"I didn't kill them, alright." He was a little agitated that she would accuse him of such a thing, but understood her reasoning. They were the last two living people here and it wasn't all that long ago that he would've pulled something like this.

"Then how did they end up the way they did? Your story doesn't make any sense."

"What, you think I injured myself, too?"

"Did another vampire show up? Just tell me what happened!"

"I didn't kill them, Bonnie, because you did!" He froze when he realized that he'd said too much and Bonnie froze, not knowing what to think. It was too much to take in at once.

"W-what are you talking about?"

He silently cursed to himself and chose his next words extremely carefully. "Look, it wasn't your fault-"

"You said I killed them! If I did, then it's completely my fault! Why don't I remember it?"

"Just calm down and I'll explain everything."

Bonnie proceeded to take several deep breaths, allowing Damon to continue.

"Okay, once I had killed Craig, I knew I had to get you some blood, and fast. You didn't have enough blood in your system and you were dying. This was the first place I came across, so I laid you out back and compelled a man to come out, so you could feed. His blood put you into a frenzy, just like any other newbie, and you just kind of lost it. When I tried to stop you though, you went berserk and attacked me as well. That's the last thing I remember, but you reacted the same way any other new vampire would."

Bonnie's hands covered her mouth as sobs threatened to escape. She couldn't believe what she was hearing; what he was telling her. Not only had she gone into a blood frenzy, but she'd blacked out as well. Her heightened emotions only made it worse. Damon reached out to put a comforting arm around her, but she moved away.

"Don't. I'm a monster. I don't want to hurt you again."

"Bonnie, you won't. You were starving and dying. Stuff happens."

"Yeah, stuff happens like lying to your family or drinking, not killing a bar full of people." By this time, she was hyperventilating, unnecessarily.

"Bonnie, just calm down."

"How can you be so nonchalant about all of this? In case you haven't noticed, we're surrounded by dead bodies! I have to get out of here." She sped away from the terrifying scene.

"Bonnie, wait!" Damon ran out of the building, but the girl was no where to be found.

oOo

Hours had passed and Damon had been unable to locate Bonnie. He was freaking out and could only hope she'd found some sort of refuge from the sun; she still didn't have a ring. That reminded him, Stefan and Elena would be back any day now with what he'd requested. His best bet was to go back to the boarding house for now. When night came, he hoped his Redbird would come to her senses and return home.
