Author's Note: Yayyy the Scomiche one sees the light of day! This one is kinda messed up (I know, shocking). There's a lot of terms that some people might not be familiar with, so this first part is going to be a glossary of those terms. You can look back if you need clarification throughout the story. I hope you enjoy!

Glossary

Bid: When an organization offers membership to a new member, to initiate the pledging process.

Big brother/Little brother: An active member will take on a pledge as their "little brother" and will provide them with guidance and support through the pledging process.

Blackball: (noun): The process by which bids are provided to new members. Typically a meeting where members vote on who they should allow in. (verb): the act of being denied a bid.

Call-Out: When pledges are called to the house for activities late at night. Call-outs are where most hazing takes place.

Crossing: The act of pledges becoming brothers.

De-pledge: The act of discontinuing the pledging process, or quitting.

Family Line: The line of bigs and littles that leads to the founding brothers.

Final Bids: A party to celebrate new members who received bids to their organization, held the night before pledging begins.

Fraternity: An organization of "brothers" who engage in philanthropic and social activities together, typically named with 2-3 Greek letters.

Greek Life: Fraternity and Sorority presence and interactions on a college campus.

Hazing: a process of initiation that often involves physical and emotional humiliation.

Hell Week: The final week of pledging. It is typically more intense, physically and emotionally.

Pledge: New members who are not yet brothers/sisters, who must prove their dedication to become a full member

Pledging: a 6-8 week process during which new members prove their loyalty and dedication to a fraternity/sorority through new member activities.

Pledge Master (PM): A brother who is in charge of the pledging program.
- Assistant Pledge Master (APM): A brother who assists with the pledging program.

Rush: Recruitment of new members. The process lasts roughly 2-4 weeks in the beginning of the semester, and involves parties and activities for potential new members to get to know the organization.

Sorority: An organization of "sisters" who engage in philanthropic and social activities together, typically named with 2-3 Greek letters.

Twin: Twolittles who share the same big brother.
