Scorpius stepped off the boat in awe. He couldn't believe he was finally here. Rose was still in the boat talking nonstop to Cassandra Finnegan. They both looked at him and started giggling. 'Why do girls giggle so much?', he wondered. He was starting to get impatient. The quicker he got inside, the happier he would be. "Rose.. Can we go?"

"Coming!" As she started to get out, Scorpius extended his hand to help her.

"Here."

"Oh, uh... Thank you." She was blushing bright red now, but funnily enough, she never let go of his hand until they reached the Great Hall.

When they got there, Professor Longbottom was giving the sorting speech. Rose leaned over to his ear. "I'm worried."

"There's no need to be."

"What... What if we aren't in the same house? We won't see each other, and you're a really sweet person and..."

"Don't worry." Actually, he had never thought about that... Hmmm.

All of a sudden a kid yelled out, "Tarrence!" A rather large toad hopped out of a boy's hand and landed on the floor with a thud. A girl with lit blonde hair picked it up gently, stroking its back. The boy looked up at Professor Longbottom sheepishly. "Sorry dad." The crowd of first years murmured.

"It's quite alright Alfie. Funny though... The same thing happened to me before the sorting. Let's go then!"

The crowd of kids walked nervously into the Great Hall. Rose reached down and squeezed the life out of Scorpius's hand again. This time, he did the same to her. He didn't want to leave his newfound friends, but he REALLY didn't want to disappoint his father. Headmistress McGonagall called the new students up, one by one. So far, Scamander, Leona, Finnegan, Cassandra, and Longbottom, Alfie were all in Gryffindor. Zambini, Alexis was sorted into Slytherin and Corner, Lee in Ravenclaw. Finally, it was Rose's turn. The hat didn't even hesitate, "Gryffindor!" She beamed and winked at Scorpius, he sent her a very unsure smile back. Almost everyone was sorted, except for Scorpius. He walked up and the hat was placed on his head.

"Hmmm... You're a hard one, eh? All of the rest of your family was in Slytherin, but you don't want that, do you? You feel you have different qualities than they did, huh? It takes a lot of courage to want to be in a different house... Must be... Gryffindor!"

Despite what his father would say, he smiled broadly and walked proudly over to his new house table where Rose met him with a congratulatory hug.

Author's Note: I added some characters and coincidences in this chapter. Tarrence the Toad was supposed to be like Neville's Trevor. Cassandra Finnegan was the child of Seamus and Lavender (I thought it was fitting to name her after the prophetess, because Lavender was into divination and then the name could be shortened to Cass and it would sound a little more Irish.). Alexis Zambini is the daughter of Blaise (even though he is only mentioned in the movies, she becomes important later.). Lee Corner was the son of Michael Corner and Cho Chang. Also, this whole scene was meant to feel like how Lily and Severus felt like when they got sorted, all of the anxiety about being split up. But, this had a happier ending.
