I giggled at my companion as she dropped to the ground and flew back up, hydra huffed a bit of smoke in my face but I continued to laugh
Hydra is my best friend! She's a small dragon and her fur was white as snow, she changes into cat whenever she wants, she has a brother named Archie
I seen him once or twice and he had to go shortly after to his friend, me and hydra walked down the stone road trying to look for something to amuse us
We got bored very easily all the time, then we saw Archie walking towards a boy with dark black hair and I got to say he does look dashing, I pulled the hood over my head considering I'm a princess
My brother was the king and my sister, Morgana was a sorcerer, she didn't want to be the next queen so they chose me even though I also didn't want to be the next queen, I wanted to be just like Morgana
So she taught me a couple tricks, normal magic like floating spell or a sleeping spell, so I taught myself some tricks and I know all sorts of spells now
I approached the boy and saw he was playing a game, there was 3 cups and a ball, you had to follow the ball and say what cup it's in, seems easy
"Hello sire, can I please play along?" I was so used to being formal at the castle so that kinda blew my cover "of course! Keep your eyes on the the ball though" he said as he held up the ball
I nodded and saw as he put it under the middle cup then he started to shuffle
Middle, left, right, middle
That was easy, I picked up the middle cup and saw no ball, I was confused
The boy giggled a bit as I giggled as well "what's it under then?" I asked as I looked under the other ones and he chuckled as he grabbed the cup from my hand and set it down again
Then he lifted it back up and the ball was right there, I was amazed, I gave him 4 more coins for fun and smiled at him then started to leave, but one of the guards walked up to the boy and wanted to play aswell
He watched as the ball got shuffled and then when it stoped he chose the middle one and of course the ball wasn't there, the guard was amazed and went to look under the other cups for it but got stopped by the boy
"Please your knightliness! Only one pick per play!" He said as he took his coin and flipped it but then one of the cups moved at the sudden noise it made me jump when it moved
"what?!" The knight exclaimed as he picked up the cup and looked inside "oh dear" Archie said as he transformed into his dragon form and ran beside the boy "MAGIC!" the guard yelled as he tried to tackle the boy but blue powder came from his hand
He then looked around for a place to go, I ran towards him and guided him a little ways down, my hood almost fell down but I quickly grabbed it and pulled it over my face again
We started to walk forward but then the guards found us and pointed their swords towards us, I didn't feel safe so I made a sort of force field to divide us from them
" you may not know, but from the order of the king magic has been outlawed under penalty of instant death" he said as he poked at my shield "oh....fuzzbuckets.." the boy said
Then the guards glew in green light and froze like time has stopped, I felt a little safe now so I let down the shield "oh douxie what did you do!" Archie asked as he freaked out
"Y/n! Did you learn a new spell or something? What happened!" Hydra asked as her cat form emerged from my hoodie and stood up on the ground, as douxie and Archie looked at us
We heard a step and we turned towards the one and only Merlin "Merlin ambrosius!" Douxie said as he bowed, and because I didn't want to blow my cover I bowed as well
"Thank you I owe you my life!" He said "our lives, we owe you our lives" I said smiling "and what sort of life would that be, have you guys even asked your self that? That ruse with the smoke was rather clever, and protecting yourself with the shield was brilliant" he said as he looked at us
"Really?" We asked at the same time "no" he said as he looked at douxie "and yes" he said looking at me he frowned as I rubbed his back " but it was real magic"
"Come! You guys can use a hot meal and I could use new apprentices" he said as he started to walk away as we got up
"What?? Us??" I said as we cached up with him, and everyone behind us unfroze "look at us arch! Teaming us with the magnanimous Merlin! And..." he said looking at me, I couldn't tell him...
"I can't tell you, but you can call me what ever you want" I said as hydra turned into their dragon form and flew on top of my head "I'll call you...buttercup!" He said as he smiled wide, I smiled as well
"I knew my plan wasn't a mistake!" He said as he smiled even more "wizards do not make mistakes they makes unexpected possibilities" he said as we continued to walk towards the castle
I bit my finger 'they know I ran away, so they will know who I am' I thought in my head, douxie saw this and asked "are you nervous about entering a castle?" He said giggling
"N-no! Uh.." I said as I saw some guards look at me "so uh...I might have been the-" "PRINCESS" I heard one of the guards close to me yell Merlin was surprised and so was douxie "the king wishes to see you your highness" a different knight came up to me and said
"You can go, I'll talk to you later, follow me boy" Merlin said as he started to walk forward but got stopped "he wishes to see all of you" the same knight said bringing Merlin inside making him groan
