RIDDLE OF THE CHAPTER: What has four legs, but can't walk?
I look around me in a mixture of confusion, amazement and humor. My obvious instinct is, "No, I'm dreaming and this wacky place I'm in right now is just a figment of my overactive, insensible imagination. That, and the bump on my head. There's only 1 word I can use to describe it: Weird.
I'm standing in... I guess it was a space station at one point in time, then converted into a stable, then a classroom, until they decided to settle on a hobbit shire but were too lazy to chug the previous era's junk out so they just left it there, maybe to improve the ambiance or make people nostalgic, either way I stood there for what seemed like over an hour before I am pulled by Yasmin to what I assumed was the control panel of this crazy place. There were wires and computers of the weirdest shapes, sizes and colours. The main computer is pin thin, all you can see is a thin glass that's dangerously threatening to fall at any time had it not been for the wall it's leaning against, it's oval shaped and as large as the wall. There are several people bustling around it doing what appears to be some kind of work, but here, you can never be sure of anything.
We walk over to the big computer and Riaz, who seems to be the commanding general or whatever they call it here, steps away from the computer and comes towards us. Yasmin's eyes light up as Riaz bends down to kiss her on the cheek. I smile and look away giving them their moment. When Yasmin turns back to me, her cheeks are pink, and she looks like the luckiest girl alive.
"So, what do you think?" Riaz asks me.
"I.. I don't really know what to think," I reply. "This is all seriously whacked out, I'm not even sure I'm fully awake yet."
Riaz laughs, a deep, throaty laugh that causes Yasmin to poke him in the side after which he pulls her to his side and looks back at me, a mischievous and mocking look in his eyes.
"Highly unlikely," he says. "Although, that would be a lovely thought and would probably explain a lot. Not that I'm complaining though," he says looking down at Yasmin. "If this is a dream, I don't want to wake up." She's now turned tomato red.
I laugh to myself, this guy is just one big softie, when it came to the people he loves, it's obvious he'd rather be safe than sorry. Although, he still has that mocking look in his eye and that commanding way of speaking that make you straighten your back, stand up straight, salute, say "Yes Sir!" and go marching into battle.
ANSWER: A table!
