RIDDLE OF THE CHAPTER: What is harder to catch the faster you run?
I chill out a little longer with Kim and Thandi. We make cupcams, which turns out to be normal cupcakes with one abnormal ingredient: cherry cameras. You mix it in the batter, bake it and bite it. The cherry cams emit a hologram out of your mouth so you can see the insides of your stomach. It is disgusting and I can't imagine why the hell anyone would EVER want to make something like that. I gotta admit they're really delicious though.
After we've relaxed and exchanged a few jokes and stories, I've got a much better idea of CaymaGooglu. It's not everything, goodness knows that'll take ages to figure out, but I can sort of understand a few things.
According to Thandi and Kim, rumor has it that CaymaGooglu isn't actually a real place, it's more of an idea. It's like something we know isn't really there, but we grow up believing it is. For e.g. we believe that wonderland might actually be a real place, but we know that it's just the figment of Lewis Carroll's information. When I point out that nothing they're saying makes sense, Thandi simply says, "not every story needs an explanation but every explanation needs a story."
I swear they're gonna make me go crazy.
I now know that we're actually the foreign species because, according to Kim, the Cayma were here waaayyy before us. She says that she thinks that they probably made Googlu the way it is today. She says I need to see them to understand (whatever that means).
I realise now that CaymaGooglu has the oddest food ever, some of the names are way too complicated to remember but there are a few that stuck out.
1)Finstiks. Thandi says it's a type of vegetable pasta that looks like grass fish. Except, it's got no meat. Thandi says it's absolutely mouthwatering and is eaten cold.
2)BLU-blu. Some type of olive naan stuffed with blueberries and chocolate. Kim says it's coated with happiness and tastes of love. (ooohhkaay, then.)
3)Rabnid. Rabbit's toes. Neither of them commented further than that.
4)Bendictocuboid. They say we're having it for breakfast tomorrow and refused to say anymore.
We stop laughing when Kim's husband knocks on the door. He walks into the house, with an adorable, "Honeypot! I'm home" "Where are yoouuu???" "Sweetheart, I've got a little present for you!!".
He walks into the living room and turns a tomato red when he notices us sitting on the couches and trying to keep a straight face. Thandi can't take it anymore and bursts out laughing again, followed by Kim. I don't, I'm trying to see this new person without looking up and he looks so strange to be Kim's husband. I'm still trying to fathom how their pairing worked out. She's white as milk and he's brown as chocolate.
"You always do that!" Thandi says in between fits of laughter, "you should ask who's in the house first before you go all gooey!"
"How was I supposed to know you're here?" he says defensively, "I thought you were out of town! And who's this?" he nods towards me.
"Correction," Thandi says, " I was out of town, I got in this afternoon. This is Tauheeda, your neighbour's wife a.k.a. the-girl-who-got-knocked-in-the-head-with-a-frying-pan-by-border-security."
"Seriously?!?" he asks sitting next to Kim and kissing her on the head. I realize that they actually look amazing together, a perfect pair, "guy next door is married? Since when? Border security? You mean Seargent's wife?"
"Yep Yasmin, shoeh! That chick packs a powerful punch! They've been married since this morning," Kim says, "didn't you hear this morning's announcements?"
"How could I? When I had you sitting right next to me?" he says seductively smiling down at her.
"oookk, get a room you guys," Thandi says standing up, "I'm off to bed, my husband must be back too."
"Yep, me too," I say jumping up, "It was nice meeting all of you, I hope I see you tomorrow!"
They all wave me out and Thandi walks me till the door before walking off down the hall.
I open the door quietly, hoping I don't disturb Hanzala and walk into the front room.
What I see, takes my breath away.
ANSWER:Your breath!
