"Cordelia dear, please be quiet."

"She must quiet down soon Miss"

Annabelle Williams and her maid had already spent hours trying to calm a week old Cordelia. The infant had been crying all day and had been worrying her mother Annabelle to death. Annabelle Williams cradled her daughter in despair as she tried to calm her down and have a moments peace.

"Should we try to feed her again Ma'am?" The maid offered, whom Annabelle had never bothered to learn the name of. Her forced marriage with the harsh duke caused her to shut off the relationship with any staff. He never kept any around for long.

"That could be a good option" Annabelle agreed.

She reached for the bottle on the nearby drawer, and for a moment thought she saw a strange gleam in her young daughter's eyes.

"Do you see something wrong with her?" Annabelle asked turning towards the maid.

The maid rushed over to check and as they both looked at the infant once more, they both screamed.
