Soft droplets of rain hit the roof of the car. It's nearly eleven at night judging by the digit clock of the built-in radio. She feels a bit drowsy as she grips the steering wheel due to how much she made herself push through at work, but it was well worth it. She got to go home earlier than planned and she got to see her fiancé.
The windshield wipers wipe the rain away as they fall onto the glass, making her vision and path clear to her eyes. She smiles as she pulls into the driveway of her shared home, happily exiting the car with a soft thud of the car door closing after turning the car off.
Her silver hair gets slightly wet, but she doesn't mind. She takes her house key in hand and unlocks the front door. Dropping her bag onto the floor, she makes her way towards her bedroom to see if her fiancé is still awake. As she nears the bedroom, she hears what she thinks is a pained groan that sounds like it belongs to him, so she speeds up. She places a hand on the doorknob, but as she goes to turn it, she hears a woman. Moaning. And he's groaning with her.
Tears fill her eyes and she hastily turns around and leaves as fast as she can. She grabs the bag she set down on the floor and slams the front door. She gets into her car and drives over to the place her older sisters are staying at. Tears roll down her tainted cheeks, and her phone starts ringing. She glances over to it and immediately turns her phone off as she reads the caller ID. Him.
The whole world is a big blur; the next thing she knows, she's with her sisters and in their arms. Margaret runs her fingers gently through Elizabeth's silver hair while Veronica holds one of Elizabeth's hands, comforting her in every way. After she'd told them what her (now ex) did, they both looked like they wanted to commit a terrible crime. But of course, they wouldn't. Maybe Veronica, but not Margaret.
The next morning, loud knocking is present at the front door. Elizabeth opens the door only to reveal a face she didn't want to see anytime soon, or ever again for that matter.
He has a smile on his face though it doesn't look apologetic in the slightest. It seems so... sinister and cynical. "What do you want?" Elizabeth spat with annoyance and hate laced in her words. She glares at him, her blue eyes on the verge of once again breaking down into tears. He tries to walk further into the house, but Elizabeth stops him from going any further. He scoffs then smirks as he puts a hand on her shoulder. She scowls and jerks her shoulder to remove his unwanted touch.
"Look babe, what you heard isn't what you think it was," he chuckles. Elizabeth looks at him in disgust.
"You have no right to call me that," she retorts, "and I know what I heard. We're done." Elizabeth tries to slam the door, but his hand stops the door from closing. He forces himself into the house and panic fills her veins. She crosses her arms as she glares at him once more. Her breathing is slightly shaky and off, but she tries to shrug it off.
"C'mon, Elizabeth," he tempts, and she cringes at the mention of her name leaving his mouth. "It's not that big a deal." The silverette scoffs and lightly laughs.
"Not that big a deal? Really, Jeremy? Cheating on your fucking fiancé isn't a big deal?" Her voice rises with every word she speaks, and she honestly can't bring herself to care. The person she thought loved her more than anything broke her heart like it was nothing. And he claims it isn't a big deal? It's pathetic.
The man smirks as he comes closer to her. "Look, she means nothing to me, alright? I only love you."
She knits her eyebrows together. "No, don't give excuses. You knew what you were doing; just - having sex with another woman while I was at work because you sought out the opportunity? No, I'm done, okay? Get out."
"Ellie, please," he begs. She lets out a shaky exhale.
"I said no. Did - Did you think that I would just be fine with this? What if I hadn't come back when I did? I'd be marrying someone who wouldn't even return the feelings I thought I had." She takes a step back, only for her back to hit the wall. He comes closer, but she removes the engagement ring from her finger and throws it with all her might at him. He screams out in pain as the ring makes contact with his skin, causing a large cut to be present on his forehead, some blood trickling down from it. At this point, he seems angry rather than cocky, and he pins her to the wall she backed up into.
