It was the first encounter that jostled my interest. One week after the start of sophmore year, I ran into a human wall. All my books scattered on the floor as he stumbled forward. I quickly gathered my books from the ground and I raised my head to look at him. I didn't recognize him. He was a little taller than me, which was saying something. I'm 6'4 with longish blonde hair and would call myself skinny but not lanky. Him, on the other hand, had short black hair, a well-built figure, and a deep voice. Also, he wasn't wearing a uniform. This is a private school that mostly anyone can enroll in, nothing special, but it was mandatory to wear uniforms. But the thing that stood out to me the most were his bright green eyes. They seemed so familiar to me. It's like I've met him before.

While I was questioning him in my mind, it came to my senses that I was staring and I immediately snapped out of it. I squared my shoulders and in the most sincere voice, I apologized. He was looking at me as if he was trying to figure out who I was. I smiled and asked if there was something wrong.

He scrutinized me and said, "Tell me your name."

At that moment, the bell rang for the first period to start.

"Oh shit," I exclaimed as I looked at the hallway to see that it was deserted. "I'm sorry but I need to get going," I continued, "I'll see you later."

I bustled down the hallway to my Physics class and opened the door slowly, hoping I wouldn't be seen. Tough luck. Every eye in the room traveled toward me, but my teacher, Mrs. Tanner, chuckled.

"Well, well," she commented, "it seems that even Student Council presidents can be tardy."

I sheepishly grinned and proclaimed my second apology for the day. I swiftly took my seat at the back of the class and my friend, Chad, retorted, "Yes! Finally Mr. Perfect had a slip up!"

I punched him in the arm and resumed to taking out my notes.

"But seriously, Evan," he continued, "what happened? You're never late."

I didn't want to relay the whole scene so I just stated that I ran into someone and I lost track of time.

"But dude, that's weird." He pestered, "you never lost track of time."

"Boys! If you don't pipe down, you're going to have to stay behind after class!" chimed Mrs. Tanner.

Great, I thought, what a great start for the day.

But what I didn't know was that this was just the start of my worries.
