Terry, the taser recertification guy, walks into Intelligence.
"Not another one." Adam said.
"Everyone is getting taser recertified." Terry said.
"I'll pass." Jo said as she sit on Adam's desk.
"You're going to have to do it. Everyone does." Terry said.
"I got tasered enough in my lifetime. I know how to tase someone and make it hurt." Jo said with a straight face.
"Sometimes you scare me." Jay said.
Jo smiles.
"She's excused." Hank said.
"I told you that I wasn't doing this." Jo said.
"Privileged." Adam whispered to his partner.
"Can I tase him?" Jo asked.
"Go right ahead." Terry said.
"Good luck." Jay said.
"Can I have Jay or someone else do it?" Adam asked, now terrified.
"She's his partner. I think we should tase and get tased by our partners." Jay said.
"That's even better." Terry said.
Avery smirks.
"No." Adam said.
Avery tases his thigh, knowing that it would hurt. Adam groans in pain.
"That just proves to not mess with Jo." Hailey said.
Jo helps Adam off the floor.
"You alright?" Jo asked as she helps Adam off the floor.
"No." Adam said, still in pain.
Jo holds in a laugh.
"Who's next?" Terry asked.
Eeryone stays silent.
"No fair." Adam said as Jo helps Adam onto his chair.
"Next time don't stay stuff about me." Jo said.
Adam puts his arms up.
Jo pulls out a file at her desk and continues to stare at it as everyone else starts to get tased.
"Can I talk to you?" Jay asked.
"I guess." Jo said as she puts the file away and locks it in her file cabinet.
They get downstairs where the cage is.
"You can talk to me about anything." Jay said.
"There's nothing to talk about." Jo said.
"That file. The one that you were staring at. I'm guessing something happened while deployed and you're second guessing yourself." Jay said.
"You don't know what you're talking about." Jo said as she gets angry.
"I might. I used to stare at the after reports of the missions that I used to go on. Exactly what you were doing. Trying to see if you could fix anything." Jay said as he carefully looks at her movements and reactions.
"Stop." Jo said.
"I'm a former Ranger and I've seen some stuff." Jay said.
"I don't care what you've seen." Jo said.
"I want you to talk to me." Jay said.
"You really want to know what happened? My fiancé died in front of me." Jo said, finally opening up.
"I'm sorry." Jay said.
"He died because of me. Jake had the need to be the hero and save me." Jo said.
"Does your dad know?" Jay asked.
"No. I came back for the funeral and went back." Jo said.
"You never found the guy?" Jay asked.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but it's our turn." Hailey said.
They get upstairs.
"I will break your hand if you touch me with that." Jo said with a straight face as Adam holds a taser in his hand.
"Jose, I need to talk to you." Hank said.
They get to his office.
"Sergeant Jacob Reeves." Hank said.
"How do you know that name?" Jo asked.
"Someone from base called while you and Halstead were talking." Hank said.
"I have to go." Jo said.
"Take someone." Hank said.
Jo walks out of his office.
"Halstead, lets go." Jo said as she gets her jacket from her chair.
Jay gets his jacket and quickly follows her.
"Where are we going?" Jay asked as he gets into the passenger side of Jo's truck.
"I need to talk to some people." Jo said.
"Illegal people?" Jay asked.
"My boss." Jo said.
They get to the corner of a diner.
"Why are we meeting in a diner?" Jay quietly asked.
"Just shut up." Jo said.
Jay puts his hands up.
"Kellan." Jo said.
"Who's ths?" Kellan, her Captain asked.
"Jay Halstead. Can you tell me what's going on?" Jo asked.
"Reeves was shot from a distance but we never found who did it." Kellan said.
"I was there. I know what happened." Jo said with an attitude.
"You're not the only one who lost someone." Kellan said.
"At a point, Jake was the only family I had. My mom died, dad was in prison, and so was my brother. I couldn't contact either of them. Jake made sure I had someone." Jo said.
"Everyone on the floor now!" A guy shouts as he storms into the diner.
People tried to run but they get shot.
"I'm paramedic. Let me help them." Jo said as she sneakily hides her gun and badge.
"NO!" Derek, the hostage taker shouts.
"They're going to die." Jo said.
"Phones! On the counter!" Derek shouts.
Everyone puts their phones on the counter.
Sirens are getting closer.
"Cops are coming and they won't hesitate to shoot." Jo said.
"I don't care!" Derek shouts.
"Let me help them." Jo said.
"Do it. Just shut up!" Derek shouts.
Jo goes to one of the injured workers.
"Do you guys have clean rags?" Jo asked.
"In the kitchen." The worker said as he holds his leg.
"I need to get to the kitchen." Jo said.
"Fast and don't bother trying anything." Derek said.
Jo gets the rags and she finds a first aid kit.
"Help treat them." Jo said to Kellan and Jay.
They triage them.
"This is the Chicago Police Department, I need you to let everyone go." The hostage negotiator said over the blow horn.
"Just let the injured go." Jo said.
"Everyone stays here." Derek said.
"I'm the one you want. My dad is a Sergeant with CPD and I'm a cop. I have leverage." Jo said.
Derek point the gun at Jo as she starts stepping closer to him.
"That'll be a good idea. Shoot a cop and get more jail time." Jo said.
"Maybe I will. I'll already be going to jail." Derek said.
"Do it. I'm not afraid of getting shot." Jo said as her chest is now in front of the gun.
Derek looks at her.
"If you don't have a problem shooting everyone that you did then shoot me. Shoot me." Jo said.
