The next day finds Brandy in a sundress and a straw hat and Sterling wearing neatly pressed black slacks and a button down shirt. "WhenI asked what you had in mind this wasn't quite what I pictured,"Brandy says half laughing.

"What's wrong with a little festival? I heard the carnival doesn't come that often here, so I figured why not go to the carnival and try our hands at a few games and rides." It isn't long before Brandy finds herself on a tea cup ride.

"I asked for a cup of tea; not to ride in a tea cup!"she shouts to Sterling, but can barely be heard over the ride's music, merriment of children, and Sterling himself laughing

After the ride, Brandy can barely stand on her own and is leaning heavily on Sterling. "What a ride!" he exclaims barely noticingBrandy staggering and trying to use him as a crutch.

"What a ride indeed!" Brandy stammers and slams into Sterling's arm.

"Whoa there! We'd best find you a chair; you seem like you had a bit too much to drink," Sterling jokes, but graciously helps Brandy to a nearby bench to sit down. "I'm guessing you've never been on an carnival rides before."

"Oh maybe a carousel or two; maybe a Ferris Wheel. I think there was a boat ride once." Sterling nods approvingly.

"Wait right there! I'll get you some seltzer or something." He ventures off and Brandy tries to steady herself by any means she can think of. At last Sterling returns with a bottle of ginger ale. "Here try this. It should settle your stomach and clear you right up." AsBrandy drinks, Sterling takes in the sights and sounds. "Quite an attraction this is! I'm surprised you don't have these more often."Brandy swallows.

"Oh I know; it's quite a shame. But I usually am stuck at the tavern anyway, so I'm not really missing anything."

"Really?! So you've never been..."

"Oh Sid took me quite a bit when I was younger, but by the time I turned 14 or 15 I didn't really find anything here that entertaining any more." Sterling nods as Brandy continues to drink her ginger ale. He takes in more of the carnival.

"I guess I can understand that," he says noting that there really isn't too much in the way of excitement for adults or teens. "Maybe one day you will change that!"

"Me?!" Brandy squeaks. "How would I go about changing that?! I'm just a barmaid. No one would listen to me."

"You're fine young woman, Brandy; don't go doubting yourself."Brandy eyes him suspiciously.

"You know something I don't?" Sterling smirks.

"C'mon; it seems you're ready to walk around some more."

The two make their way to food tent. They are greeted with a fresh aroma of apple pie and various other baked goods. Sterling takes in a big whiff. "Ah! I could live in this tent forever! This is my kind of tent." Brandy laughs and playfully hits him in the arm.

"Is that all you men think about? Food, sex, and booze?"

"Pretty much!" Brandy continues laughing. "C'mon let's see what kinds of goodies we can get to eat. I'm starving!"

It isn't long before they are sitting at a table with traditional carnival food like a hot dog or two, a hamburger, and some funnel cakes. A bandstand is nearby playing a variety of music. Brandy finds herself tapping her foot to the music and swaying as she is eating her food. Sterling takes note and smiles himself.
