Jay sighed as she kicked a stray rock along the uneasy road. Many Nohrians called these roads home. Or whats left of it. Windmire was not anything pretty too look at. Food was always short. The war with Hoshido never made anything easier. Jay kneeled down picking up the stone gently feeling along its course yet smooth surface. Tossing it into the street gently it bounced along the black and gray pavement.

Windmire was the capital of this great Kingdom. The Kingdom of Hoshido had started this War. Jay was sure of it. She had to. Today was the day she could try to enlist into the army. Jay smirked as she gripped her steel sword's hilt. She worked for over a year cleaning horse and dragon dung to purchase her blade. Armor would be supplied she figured. Weapons had to be up to standard and the soldiers responsibility to bring.

Jay trodded down the road weary of any thugs or ruffians who would try and test her. Making her way to the main towns mart. She saw it. A booth of soldiers pointing towards the crowd and demanding recruits. The townsfolk look distressed. Mothers covered thier kids afraid of being separated. This was a weekly occurance. Less soldiers were coming back alive. Grunts anyway were always in short supply.  Starting as a grunt would be grueling but necessary if she wanted to earn the respect as an officer or commander one day.

Jay raised her hand slowly and spoke. " I will defend Nohr and her Glory". The townsfolk grew quiet as they backed away slowly from her leaving her in the center of the crowd. Looking around everyone's face looked concerned and fearful. Suddenly an arm wrapped around her shoulders. Gently but firmly. The man had a long almost jester had on. Dirty blonde hair which seemed almost scraggly. A long thin grin painted his face as she felt long nails creep along her back.

Meeting the mans gaze she simply smiled. Oh you wish to enlist. With that phrase you must know someone personally do you now~. The man giggled softly into her ear. This was Jay's plan. The Glory of Nohr was absolute. He cooed gently " are they a grunt too or possibly an officer hmmmm?" Jay sighed . "My.. father he was a grunt. He has not returned home in months. I need to.. find him. My mother passed after my birth. I have nothing left to fight for besides my fathers name and .. Nohr" .

The slender jester stroked her shoulder offering her an almost sarcastic sympathy. "There there Zola is here he whispered embracing her" . Prove your loyalty to your country and join your father in service to our great country. Jay could feel his hand weasel its way into her front pocket. Jay clenched her fist and her eyes in fury. " How dare he she gripped his wrist suddenly looking into his eyes" "I'm a woman of honor". Jay sneered into his gaze.

Zola stopped suddenly placing a satchel inside her pocket . He cackled loudly " oh my a grunt ... Such tenacity . Dont worry I have no desire for an underling~" Jay sighed as she took a step away and felt her pocket's bulge. Zola smiled drumming his nails along  his forearm. " Speak to me your name" Jay stood tall and nodded . "My name is Jay Sir! "
Zola turned away walking to his soldiers as he spoke " complete your new assignment in due time. If not never return to Nohr failure is not an option. "

Jay gazed at him shocked. Surely the jester must be kidding. Terrified she looked for help. All the citizens that had surrounded her were stepping away from her . Biting her lip Jay ripped the satchel apart to see what her task was. The satchel contained a few gold coins as a small map with a note attached. It had a black circle around a somewhat close by. Fort dragon fall was written. The note was sealed and the map stated deliver. Jay furrowed her brow thinking.

It must be a delivery to the officer stationed at the fort. Jay sighed in relief. It should be a piece of cake. All she had to do was treck through the city and get to the outskirts and forrest to make it through. Breaking the seal would be treason as it was not for her eyes. Jay quickly stuffed everything into her pocket. She would save the coins for later. Those coins were enough for a few days of rations. However Jay wanted to waste no time getting to the Fort. Racing through the city she was almost excited to start her assignment after all it should be a piece of cake. Her sword clanged against her tunic after each step. Who knew something so clunky could be so comforting.
