"Omg!" So what was that all about?" Liz asked exuberantly as she pulled me out of class and led me to photography class. When we walked in Sally, Renee, Josh, Aiden, and Luke were sitting at our usual spot. Liz and I quickly climbed the steps up to the last row of computers in the lab and sat down next to our friends.
I quickly said 'Hi' to everyone before Liz continued to badger me, trying to get more information out of me. "Come on! Tell me! Please?" She pleaded with a huge smile spread across her face.
"What is she talking about?" Sally quickly questioned as our entire group of friends turned to face Liz and I.
"Okay. So Jackie over here sat down next to L.P. in English today." Liz said rapidly before I could say anything.
"Wait... Who's L.P. again?" Aiden asked scratching his head. "You know who L.P. is. That's their nick name for that British guy." Josh replied rolling his eyes and chuckling sarcastically. "Well... So what else happened? Jackie and him sat together in English... And?"
"And they talked the entire time! She even giggled TWICE!" Liz continued to exclaim happily.
"It was nothing. Seriously. He's just... charming, I suppose." As I said this I could feel the butterflies erupt in my stomach once again. I felt my cheeks starting to turn warm so I quickly lowered my head to hide this from my friends. Just as Luke was about to question my actions the teacher walked in and gave us an assignment.
For the entire class I couldn't concentrate on the lesson. Instead my mind kept on drifting off to Liam James Payne. Liz attempted to get me to confess to her about my thoughts, but she didn't succeed. When the bell rang telling us that class was over I immediately jumped up and ran to hide behind Aiden and Renee before Liz could attack me with more questions. We made small talk as all seven of us made our way down to the cafeteria and sat down at our usual round table near the vending machines.
"You guys, can I ask you something?" I asked shyly as we all began to eat our lunch. The group quickly muttered in agreement as they all stared at me in approval for me to continue. "Do you guys think I don't pay attention to anyone else outside of our group?"
They quickly exchanged looks before Renee spoke in what I assume was behalf of everyone. "You sometimes do tend to be oblivious to the rest of the world. But it's cute. You never get involved in any drama and you don't care about the latest gossip." She said ending with a supportive smile.
"Umm... Thanks? I think. But that's not what I mean... I guess what I'm trying to say, do you guys think I'm a loner? Or if I knew something about someone else that was outside of our group would you be surprised?" I quickly muttered out not daring to look at any of them in the eyes.
"Listen, Jackie. You're not a loner. You have us. I mean, come on! We're awesome. Who would need more friends when you have us? And as for your second question, what do you know? Better yet, about who? And yeah, it would be a little surprising, as Renee said. You tend to not get into gossip. But that's okay. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Where's all of this coming from anyways?" Aiden said as he placed a hand on my back and began to rub small comforting circles upon it.
"Thanks. And I don't know. When I was speaking to Liam and told him that I knew he was from England he seemed extremely surprised. He couldn't believe I paid attention to anyone who isn't you guys. But -" I was suddenly interrupted by my cell vibrating in my pocket. I rapidly fished my mobile out and saw I had a text message from Unknown.
"Hey. Do you want to go to Olive Garden with me for a quick lunch?"
I quickly reread the text a couple of times before Josh's question snapped me back into reality. "So are you going to tell us who just messages you?" I honestly didn't know who it was. I looked at the number to see if it sparked some recognition, but nothing. "Umm... I have no clue. It's a text from someone asking me out to lunch." Everyone just stared at me with puzzled looks before Luke said, "Well, text them back and ask who it is."
