"Hey you guys, this is Keith!" Lance introduced the other boy to the group. "He kept me company while you all had better things to do," He joked.
The day he had met Keith, Hunk was home sick, Allura was working on a photography project, and Pidge was out of town getting tech supplies from their "dealer" as the group called it.
Pidge rolled their eyes. "Oh stop complaining, McClainolds," They teased.
"McClainolds?" Keith questioned.
"It's cause my last name is McClain," The brunette rolled his eyes. "Anyway, this is Pidge, Allura and Hunk."
Each of them said hello and the two sat down. Lance immediately threw himself into the conversation, but Keith stayed quiet. His arms fell by his sides and he fidgeted with his hands in his lap, no distinct facial expression.
"So Keith," Allura eventually spoke, "How exactly did you and lance run into each other?"
The table fell silent. Hunk and Pidge perked up to hear, while lance slouched more, eyebrows upturned. He didn't want to reveal what actually happened, but he wasn't a quick thinker under pressure.
Keith however didn't have this problem. "Oh, Lance saw me sitting alone and decided i needed company, so he just came over and didn't leave," He said, nonchalant. "I just kinda let him be."
The others nodded and went back to their conversation, except for lance who looked to Keith and gave a silent "Thank you," to which he nodded, corner of his mouth upturning ever so slightly. The look made the Cuban's heart give a small flutter, but he shrugged it off. He was just a kind of cute guy, it's not like it meant anything.
Keith just listened in until the bell rang, signaling the end of the period. The group said their goodbyes, except for Allura and Lance, who had the same class.
"So, Keith is cute," Allura teased as she and Lance walked down the hallway.
The brunette blushed, shaking his head. "Wha- I don't- I have no clue what you're talking about, I mean, he's semi-attractive I guess, but that's about it," He said, stumbling over his own words.
Allura raised her eyebrow. "You want to flirt with him so bad don't you?" She smirked.
"Wh- Keith? Nope! Nu-uh! No way!" He pauses as Allura gives him an unamused look. He sighed. "Yes, absolutely I do."
But that's ridiculous, he thought. What would he even think about that?
