looming over Stark tower were grey clouds, thick with rain ready to spill and cry all over the city. Muffled sounds of people, cars and light music. Frosty, the glass windows looked as the rain eventually lashed against them. Bucky awoke from a nightmare that shattered his sleep; he was too on edge to go next door to your room and ask you for hugs again.
There at the kitchen island stood Bucky, listening to the radio in the dark. The light emitting from the radio lit up Bucks face as he nodded along to the music. He tucked his hair behind his ear as he leaned against the corner collecting his thoughts as he replayed his dream like a record on a record table.
Y\N pov:
The rain got heavier as the night drew on. In the middle of the night I heard a person hyperventilating, it must be Bucky. I waited a few minutes before making the tip to go see if he was okay. My steps echoed through the cold hall before coming to a stop; his door stood right before me but no sound. I knocked twice and peeked inside, his room was still bare no decorations just a bed and a desk. No one was in.
Faint music could be heard from around the corner. It was Nick cave and the bad seeds O children, a song I recommend because it reminded me of him. I shuffled all the way to the kitchen in my slippers. I saw: Bucky closing his eyes and swaying to the music.
My arms slid around his waist and he jumped a bit in surprise.
"Oh hey"
"Hay is for horses" I giggled
The light still on his face, he smiled "why are you up doll?"
"Can't sleep buckerooo"
He shifted the hug and now we were face to face. He sighed and rested his head on mine. His arms wrapped tightly around me he began to rock side to side.
"Dance with me?" His voice unsteady and shaken
"Of course" you beamed up at him
He took your hand into his as the concoction of music and rain filled the kitchen calming you both. He spun you around before holding you close and just taking in the moment. You spun him around and giggled as you could hardly get your arm high enough to tuck him under.
The song on the radio changes and now it's a vintage song from the 40s. As you look up you see Bucky sing the words "love is the sweetest thing" he sang with a smile as he looked at you in his arms. The song had so much charm that suited Bucky well.
From the door frame stood Sam and Steve watching as you two danced. Steve was proud that he could see his best friend smile and even dance again. So much had happened to him and he believed that you were here to mend all that heart break. He knew that each night Bucky would go to you and sleep with you, you were his strength. You calmed his nightmares and washed away his pain.
The song came to a slow and buck looked at you.
"I need to tell you something"
"You can tell me anything"
"Well doll you see I-" he took a pause and looked at the wall avoiding eye contact.
You held his cheek "I what?" ,He looked at you, "Remember you can tell me anything. Anything at all."
"I have feelings for a girl"
"Oh well she must be very lucky" you said feeling sad
"She's pretty, has beautiful eyes and pretty h\c hair. She's sweet and funny and calms me down. She is my life line and I wished she was mine"
"were is she now?"
"In my arms doll" he smiled finally getting it off of his chest
"I love you"
"I love you too" you smiled tears trickling down your face
He wiped them away and pulled you into a sweet kiss. You closed your eyes and joined him in bliss as the music slowly faded out.
Sam and Steve watched and smiled before turning to leave. Steve finally felt like he was able to do something, to help his friend. He brought Bucky to the tower to meet you.
Bucky picked you up and swirled you around
"Aww finally doll"
You giggled and rested your head against his.
"Always"
"Till the end of the line......My love"
