The Family

Chapter 6

   They had to kill a few bugs after they managed to make it to the crank spot and raise the bridge. Scarlett took it from Ethan and slid the shotgun between her back and her Jacket, so she didn't have to have it in her hands the whole time. Inside the small shack they got to they found the crow key and more fuel and another coin meaning she could get Ethan that gun when they got back to the camper later. They headed back to the crow door ready to continue on to where they needed to be. Scarlett felt Marguerite close, so she had Ethan let her go up first, much to his dismay, and she was grabbed by said woman who shouted at her and threw her back down the stairs. When she landed the floor beneath her, and Ethan crumbled, and they fell to the damp ground below.

"Alright you little cocksucker, let's get down to business. You shouldn't have bitten me earlier, you little bitch! "Marguerite yelled as she stood over the hole looking down on the pair as they stood and aimed at the woman.

"Shouldn't have force fed me and left your hand where it could be bitten you crazy old bitch!" Scarlett shouted back popping off shots faster than Ethan could keep up. She had let go of the crank and pulled both of her regular pistols, even after getting Wesker she couldn't bring herself to part from the guns with his initials, they had become hers and she had grown fond of them after all the years and things she had been through with them. Marguerite told them they were going to die in that hole, but Scarlett laughed and easily took care of the bugs the other woman sent down to attack them while Ethan focused on the woman.

Marguerite shouted various things at them but eventually the wounded her enough that she toppled headfirst into the hole with them. Scarlett scoffed as the woman still taunted them and moved over her to go up the ladder. She waited for Ethan at the top as black water filled the hole below him before they went to the door and opened it finally. She shuddered at the sight of more hanging dolls, and they found a case and Ethan's codex beeped making them look at it to see it said that the target was acquired. The case held a mummified corpse of a baby inside and Scarlett stepped away feeling sick at the sight. Ethan left her alone and read the note in the case as she looked around the room for anything else and the phone rang.

"Well did you two find the serum?" Zoe asked as Scarlett picked up the phone.

"We just got done dealing with your mom and her fucking bugs. Wish you coulda warned us." Scarlett hissed making Zoe chuckle a little which pissed Scarlett off more.

"Sorry about that. What about the serum?" She asked and Scarlett gripped the phone tighter. This woman didn't care about them, just what they could get her.

"None but we can make it with what we found and another piece we have to find. Need a D- series head and arm." Scarlett replied trying to keep from snapping at the girl, she just ended up giving the phone to Ethan so he could deal with the girl as she stepped back to breath ignoring the rest of the conversation until he put the phone down and sighed. He let her know that they needed to check up stairs and head to Zoe's trailer once they found what they needed, and she pinched the bridge of her nose in irritation.

"When we see her don't be surprised if I punch her in the face, I'm tired of being on a wild chase with no answers." Scarlett said making Ethan shake his head, he didn't know she wasn't serious, but he still thought it was funny. They went up the stairs and found a voodoo doll and another file about what was going on with Marguerite and how the child gave her a present. They saw the door they needed to go through was locked and they needed the lantern the woman had to balance the weight so it would unlock so they headed back to the hole. Scarlett tensed when they saw a long spindly arm snatch the lantern and skitter down the hole as the person said it was theirs.

"Oh, fuck I don't want to go after her." Scarlett said cringing and Ethan turned to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Then wait here and I'll take care of her." He said sincerely and she blinked before laughing loudly causing him to be confused.
