“I totally ship it.” Meghan noted, nodding towards the two boys sitting in the corner watching Netflix together.  “Same. I wonder what it would be like if the ship really did come true.” Lucy and Meghan pondered for a bit, thinking deeply into what it may be like in an alternate universe where Jonathan and Anthony would finally end up together.

Jonathan and Anthony had been driving for about 5 hours now and seemed to have become lost. Both of them were hungry, tired, and in need of bladder relief. “Have you figured out where we are yet?” Jonathan inquired glancing at Anthony who was seated in the passengers seat. “No. And my phone is gonna die.” Anthony reached over into the console between them and pulled the charger from Jonathan’s phone. As soon as Anthony clicked the charger into the port of his phone, Jonathan looked over at him and in an annoyed tone, stated, “I need that. I was charging my phone.” Jonathan grabbed onto the cord of the charger, yanking it from Anthony’s phone. “But you’re driving. You don’t need your phone when you’re driving, Johnny. Besides, I need to find where we are.” Anthony looked down at his phone once more, sighing. “And, now, it’s dead. Now we’ll never find where we are.” Jonathan grabbed his phone and with the charger in the other hand, he put his knees against the steering wheel holding it into place as he plugged the cord into his phone. “next time, ask.” Anthony slid down into his seat, sticking out his bottom lip in a pout. “I’m sorry, Johnny…” After checking that the phone had begun to charge, Jonathan then placed the phone back into the console, as he did, he glanced down, running a red light. “Johnny, no!” Just as the car passes under the lights, a car coming from the other direction collides with the driver’s side of the car.

“Johnny!” Anthony sat up abruptly, breathing heavily. “i just had the worst-” he looked to his left expecting to see Jonathan in bed next to him. The spot next to him was empty all except for a call button. He began to look around feeling worried. Hearing a quick, steady beeping, he looks toward the source of the sound realizing that it’s a heart rate monitor. Anthony began to panic, the beeps increasing quickly. Pulling the sensors from his chest and back, Anthony climbed out of the bed, running out of the room. He stopped as he passed through the doorway, looking around. Quickly turning, he ran down the hall to his left, looking into the window of each room as he passed. He ran past the last door of the hall, stopping short before turning back to look into the window. Slowly reaching up to place his hand on the glass of the window, Anthony quietly said to himself, “Johnny…” Feeling his chest tighten up, he turned, walking into the room. Stopping beside the bed, he looked down at the boy laying in the hospital bed. He knelt down beside the bed, as warm tears began to run down his cheeks. “No…” Anthony looked up at the heart rate monitor in the corner watching the line slowly come to a spike with each beat. He took Jonathan’s hand, watching him for a minute. “Johnny…?” he nudged him on the shoulder as the nauseous feeling in his stomach began to grow. “Please, Johnny… Wake up… Please…” He nudged him once more, crying harder. “No… No, you can’t… Johnny, you gotta wake up… You gotta…” The beeps of the heart rate monitor progressively got slower. Anthony glanced up at the monitor, watching the spikes slowly rise and fall once more. “It’s all my fault… Johnny, I’m so-” a steady beep of the flat line on the monitor cut Anthony off before he could finish his sentence. Gripping Jonathan’s hand tighter, he began to bawl. “I’m sorry, Johnny…”
