Your life was one that many desire, it was one filled to the brim with family, wealth, and what to seemed to many joy
Yet...
As you lay in your deathbed and reminisce on all that has passed you by like the autumn leaves on a windy day, you mourn.
You mourn the life you did not get to live.
As a child, your parent's approval was like a drug to you but never one you could overdose on. You were always told that mother knows best and you believed in her words, no matter the cost.
It didn't matter if you stayed up past the witching hour, studying for that one test, that one class, that one grade that stood in between you and their love
It didn't matter if you pushed yourself so far beyond your limits, that when you looked at yourself in the mirror, a ghost of your past self stared back
It didn't matter if your heart ached because you loved them so much, mother said they were not good enough for you
It didn't matter that you lived the life that your mother wanted and not the one that you wanted
It didn't matter, right?
So why are you mourning? Why are you sad?
You got what you wanted, right?

My opinion -
I believe that parents should not force their children into a life they do not want to live and I believe that there should not be such an emphasis on doing what they desire because they are your parents.
You owe nothing to them, they made you and they took care of you because that is what they signed up to do when you were conceived, that is the bare minimum. From there you choose your own life and whatever you choose, choose out of love for yourself and not because that is what you were told to do by your parents.
Now, if you choose to do something out of love for your parents then there is nothing wrong with that and it is a beautiful thing but please do not do something permanent because your parents are forcing you to.
