A tug on my chains woke me up from my un-peaceful slumber.

"Get up," Sharptooth hissed. "You're going out." He tugged harder on my chains when I refused to move, making the chain on my neck choke me.

"I'm coming," I growled, getting to my paws. "You Sky Dogs are so impatient." I hated it here. I'd been here for the last five months. It was the battle day.

"We're very patient," Sharptooth retorted with a snarl. I lashed my tail in annoyance. They'd been 'nice' enough to heal it back on, so I could fly and fight. "You just don't appreciate us enough. Neither do they." He angled his ears toward Pacho, who was being pulled by Sharp, and Velvela, who was being pulled by Jag.

They'd renamed Pacho when he was bigger, because his name didn't sound 'dangerous' enough. I never got to know what it was, though.

"Don't forget; we're almost full grown now, and we can rip you to shreds." I snarled, my hackles raised.

Sharptooth laughed.  "And we have an army of full grown wolves," He unlatched my chains from my neck, and released me into a small fenced area. "I'll be watching you for the next hour." Sharptooth pushed me into the fence, and slammed the gate. About 100 other prisoners were slammed in after me.

I scanned the crowd for Pacho and Velvela. I spotted Velvela's white fur in the sea of wolves, and pushed toward her. Then, I realized where she was going. Since the time we learned how to fly, we'd been meeting in the big tree in the corner of the yard.

I spread my wings, and wooshed up to the tree, where I landed on a thick branch.

Velvela landed in front of me, and Pacho was next to her.

"Battle day. Yaay...." Pacho cheered sarcastically.

"This is going to be so fun." I joined in. I then got serious. "So what's the plan?"

"Plan?" Velvela tipped her head to one side. "What plan?"

"I was thinking we could make a plan to escape." I barked, scraping my claws into the bark.

"That would be a good idea," Pacho admitted. "But how?"

"Well, we could choose not to kill our opponent," I explained. "And then, the Queen would come out onto the battlefield, and we could tear her to bits. Then, we could set everyone free, and leave this wretched place."

"Sounds like a plan, then," Velvela agreed. "Let's go over exactly what we'll do."

"Okay, then the plan is done," I barked when we were done talking. "They'll take us to go to the arena right after this 'outing', which should end in a few minutes."

Velvela nodded. "Kay, let's go pretend to be busy with stuff, because, if you forgot, the guards are watching us." I nodded silently in agreement, and we split up. I landed with a soft thump on the cold grass.

I felt teeth grab into my scruff, and drag me to the gate.

"C'mon, wolf," Sharptooth hissed, clamping the shackles back on my neck. "Battle time."

He lead me gruffly to an arena, where there was a ledge where Queen Blaze stood. All around where there were supposed to be seats, there were cages all around, full of imprisoned winged wolves.

I gulped. This can't be happening now! I'm not fit to kill! "I don't want to kill!" Shoot. I said that out loud.

Sharptooth glared at me. "You will," He hissed. A smile formed on his face. "And you'll be first."

"Wolves of Sky Kingdom," Blaze's voice boomed over the huge arena, frightening even full grown wolves. "Today is the day we will fight! Now, first up," Blaze's eyes scanned the crowd, then rested on me.

Shoot.

"Cynthia! The poor little demon!" Blaze laughed. "Sharptooth," She added quietly. "Put her in the arena."

Sharptooth gave a breif nod, and shoved me into the arena.

"Watch it!" I growled as Sharptooth yanked my shackles off.

"And for the little demon's opponent," Blaze's voice silenced the arena. "Killer!"

"Killer?" I laughed so hard I was snorting. "Who......ever.....named.....their.....pup.....Killer?"

Blaze grinned. I knew something bad was going to come out of her mouth. "Your mother."

"Let go! Get your paws off of me, filthy Sky scum!" A white winged wolf was shoved into the arena.

I knew that voice.

I only knew one wolf that was white.

"No!" I yowled. "Blaze, you're just cruel! Why? Why my own brother?

Why Pacho?"
