Clinging onto your polearm for dear life. Striking the last enemy down. Your polearm erupts into flames burning your opponent. Xiao already killed the last one attacking him. The air colder than normal. You inhaled slowly and exhaled the same. Your breaths shallow. You hear the grass brush upon eachother as Xiao gradually came closer.
Your vision blurry barely making out his figure. You leaned onto your polearm exhausted.
"We did it" you croaked out. You stand up clearing your vision. You swipe your polearm down as it fades away. You laughed a bit before giving Xiao a hug. He smiled and laid a hand on your back.
"We did" His voice a bit shaken. He left the battlefield into teal particles bringing you along.
You both appear onto the highest balcony compared to the rest. You let go of him and look at the view. Staring at the mountain in front of you both. Your vision getting blurry then clearing up repeatedly.
"I think I'm going to...sleep" You let out pants in-between words before collapsing onto Xiao.
In return he took you to your shared room and set you down on the bed. He smiled at your sleeping body. He sat down next you deep in thought. He looked at your cuts on your arm and went to patch them up.
Slowly your breaths became more spaced out. Like you were holding onto a string of life. Taking a notice into how your breathing pattern changed. Xiao checked your heartbeat. Slowly decreasing in speed. He couldn't figure out what happened. Your body temperature decreasing in speed. Your body almost felt like ice.
He tried everything to return heat to your body but it was hopeless. If only he had a pyro vision maybe it'd work. He lifted your body up and hugged you. Holding you close, you took your last breath leaving him alone.
He sat there holding your lifeless body. Tears falling down his face. He suspected the one fat Fatui agent that was cryo shot you. Your mortal body couldn't take cryo to the heart possibly. Mentally cussing himself out for not noticing. He laid your lifeless body back down to the bed.
The once cheerful y/n he knew, died in his arms. He could only think about how you jumped into the battle without knowing the opponents at hand. He put his hands over his face hiding his tears. Only thinking about how he could've prevented this outcome.
