Emily couldn't believe that he finally saw him with another woman. The speculations were right. Dejun was indeed having a relationship with this woman. What's worse is, she caught him on the day she thought she loved the most.

She took one last glance at her husband, before leaving the restaurant.

"I'm a fool for believing that he wanted to have my birthday dinner with me," the poor girl said to herself, as she waited for the valet to bring her car.

"Emily," Dejun said breathlessly. The look on his eyes showed anger, not even a single hint of regret.

"Leave me alone," she said, as she took a step away from him.

"You have to listen to me first," Dejun said, as he ran his hand through his hair, a habit he does whenever he's frustrated.

"What's there to explain? I have heard and seen enough," Emily flatly replied, as she looked around, wondering where her car is.

"Why on earth are you so stubborn?" He suddenly spat, which made the girl turn around. That hit a nerve.

"What do you expect me to do? Beg and cry for you not to leave me?" She sarcastically spat back.

"That's not the point, Emily! All I'm asking for is for you to listen to me," Dejun replied, frustrated with the situation.

Emily's black Range Rover pulled up at the front, and she immediately walked down the stairway.

"I'm leaving," She said before entering her car and sped off. Tears were uncontrollably falling down her cheeks.

"Happy birthday, Emily. Do you love your birthday present?" She sarcastically said to herself.

She arrived home, looking disheveled. She got off her car, only to hear her husband's car pulling in the driveway. "Emily, let's talk," She heard Dejun say from behind, and she chose to ignore her.

As she entered the doors of their manor, she felt a tight grip on her wrist. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" She said, with full anger. She finally lost her cool.

"It's my fucking birthday, Dejun. Give me a break!" She said as tears fell on her cheeks. She forcefully removed Dejun's grip on her wrist.

She walked up the hallway and took off her heels before walking up the staircase. She entered their room and threw her purse on the bed. Emily then decided she needed air. The poor girl hasn't even eaten the entire day. A few minutes later, a knock could be heard from outside.

"You may come in," she said, as she walked towards the bed. The door opened, and it was one of their servers, carrying a tray of food.

"Madam, sir requested dinner for you," The maid said, who looked hopeful that she would have dinner.

"I know you haven't celebrated your birthday at all ma'am, so I tried to make you a simple cake," She said, as she looked at the silver tray that was in her hands.

"Ah yes, thank you, Melanie. I'll enjoy this," she said, as she took the tray from her hands. "Happy birthday, ma'am. Goodnight," Melanie said, which made her heart swell.

Someone greeted her aside from her brother. "Thank you. You too have a good night," She replied with a smile, as the maid closed the door.

She set the tray on her table and took a bite of the pasta. It was her comfort food, which made her feel better despite all the things she had gone through for the day.

She was eating the last bite of cake when she heard the door opened. It was Dejun, he finally entered their room after almost an hour and a half.

She stood up from her seat, as she was done eating her food. She then entered their shared walk-in closet and started to get ready for the night.

After a good warm bath, she went outside the bathroom only to find out that Dejun has left their shared bedroom. He was probably in his study working, she thought to herself. She turned her gaze on the king-sized bed, only to see a small tiffany blue paper bag, with her name on it.

She slowly undid the ribbon, and it revealed a beautiful gold bangle, with diamonds in it.

"Happy Birthday, Maureen." The card read. She took the dainty bracelet to her hands, as she noticed that there was something a certain date on it.

02-14-20. The day we first met.

The next day came, and Emily woke up to nobody beside her. Dejun probably left early for a meeting, which was normal for her, since it does happen sometimes. She then proceeded to do her daily routine and went down the staircase to have her breakfast.

In the middle of her meal, an unexpected guest suddenly arrived. "Madam, Mr. Xiao is here," the maid said, which made her stop eating her breakfast. Then entered a tall man, with the same features as her husband.

"Hi darling, is it only you for breakfast today?" Dejun's father said as he took the seat next to her.

"Yes, it's only me. Dejun left early today," She replied, as she took another bite of her food.

"Should I call Dejun for you?" Emily asked her father-in-law. She knew that every time he visited, there was something wrong, or they had a mission to accomplish.

"No, it's alright. My secretary already informed him that I'm visiting," He replied, and took a bite of the breakfast that was served. The two ate in silence, until Dejun showed up, breathless.

He took a glance at his wife's wrist, happy to see that she was wearing the gift he got her.

"Ah, Dejun. You're here," his father said, as Dejun took a seat at the dining table.

This does not look good at all.
