Broken Pearl Ch.1

3rd Pov.

Brandon and Sara got married very young, she was a rebel and she didn't like to go by the rules. Brandon was very modest, he loved to help people and avoided conflict, they were the perfect opposite. Brandon was in college while Sara and he were together, He desired to be a doctor so that he could help and rescue others.

Sara was associated with criminals, in the end, They split up due to their separate paths. They never divorced as it was too time consuming and involved too much paperwork.

Sara died a couple of years later from unexplained reasons. That might explain why she stopped calling him. Brandon was heartbroken, he went through a period of depression. He believed that after college Sara would change and they would be together again.

After they broke up, he maintained contact with her. Brandon is a naïve young man, Sara remained in touch with him just so he could send her money, even though he didn't even realize it at the time.

After she stopped calling him, He contacted one of her friends and found out about her unexplained death, but her friend didn't want to give him the information about how she passed.

Brandon and Sara's wedding anniversary is on May 3rd. Brandon acquired the apartment they shared after Sara died, and he visits it every year to drink coffee and reminisce about the happy moments they shared. Even though there were just a few of them.

Brandon is having a hard time accepting her death, It's been over a decade and he still appears to be in a depressed mood. Brandon believes Sara was and will always be the only woman he would ever love, although their relationship was far from ideal.

This day was particularly hectic, Brandon decided to have his meal at home and catch up on some work emails. He cleaned the flat and sat down with a glass of wine and his meal.

He went to Sara's art studio after lunch, It hasn't been touched in a long time. Brandon could not stand the thought of cleaning it. 

He makes his way to the memorial wall, It's where they display photos of noteworthy events. He hears a cracking sound coming from a floorboard as he moves, The wood was quite old and worn out. Brandon nearly took it as a sign that it was time to let go of the past.

He looked down and noticed that the bord pannel was protruding, When he raises it the nails must be worn out as well. He notices a red box in the cracks, He takes the box from the hole that the wood pannel left and opens it.

At first, he spotted old documents, business letters, etc, but then he noticed a photo at the bottom of the box. A baby's ultrasound picture and a birth certificate

"Did she keep it?..."

Brandon's Pov

That night, I got no sleep. This whole time I've had a daughter and I didn't know it? Why didn't Sara tell me? Is she still alive? I must find her if so.

Her name is Pearl Fallon and she was born a few months after I separated from Sara. I and Sara wanted to have a family, but it's not that simple to obtain a government's approval to do so, it would take years. after all Sara is a human and I'm a spice...

Kim might be able to help me find her, We live together, therefore he became more of a brother to me than a friend. He works for a company that rescues non-human children from the hands of humans.

Humans dominate everything and anything in the world I live in; they claim it's because they're weak and it would be unfair for other races to have authority over them, although they outnumber any other race.
