THE BRIGHTEST STAR I COULDN'T REACH

YEAR 2090.

"Good morning class." I greeted them with a smile.

"Good morning miss!"

"Are you ready for today's lesson?"

I laughed when other students started to scratch their heads while the others sat properly and ready to listen.

"Looks like there's only a few who studied our lesson for today. I already told you guys to read the paper I gave you because I'm giving you a short quiz after this."

"Sorry miss, I got entertained watching videos on youtube last night but promise that we will listen today."

"Hm, make sure of that brian. Let's see. So, shall we start?"

All of them nodded.

"Yesterday we talked about culture of china. Now, we are going to discuss about the culture of South Korea."

"These traditions include the ethical code of conduct in social life and showing respect to the elders and family." I added.

Girls screamed when I started talking about South Korea's Musics.

"Miss! K-pop miss! It's part of their culture right?"

"Yes. It's part of their culture. Through the years, it gets bigger and more popular around the world."

"I adore this one K-pop group miss. They're so talented and handsome of course."

"Just one group niki? I got four groups, weak."

"Atleast I'm loyal duh."

I laughed when they both rolled their eyes.

I looked at my watch to see that I only have 20 minutes left.

"Class, do you want me to tell you my grandma and her first love's story?"

"Who's her first love miss?"

"Her first love is a...kpop idol."

"Huh?"

"My first love is jay miss. He's in this one popular group these days."

"Huh? Is it possible miss?"

"Yes. It's possible because I saw how my grandma adore this one guy from a K-pop group back then."

"Did they end up together?" My student on the last row asked.

"No. They never end up together. He didn't even know that she's existing and if ever they meet, he will only treat my grandma as his fan."

"Oh, that's sad."

"Yes. Sad but that's the reality."

"Who's that grandma miss? The one who visited you here last time?"

"Hm, not her. I'm preferring to her sister. I was talking about her older sister."

"What happened next miss?"

"She's my favorite grandmother. Though, I love all of them but she's the one I always with. She taught me a lot of things. She's the reason why I'm standing here in front of all of you, teaching." I sighed as I remenisced all the bond we made.

"I was 17 that time when I asked her why she doesn't have a husband. I thought she's going to be mad at me coz we didn't talk about that before but out of curiosity, I asked her. Then she suddenly smiled at me, with sadness on her eyes."

"I don't want to get married kid."  She answered.

"But why?"

Her rocking chair moved. "I liked a lot of men when I was young but maybe my heart and mind were only for him."
