THIRD PERSON

"okay hold on." jonah was taking a moment to process what mei had just told him "so your telling me that you met the spice girls when you were 4?" mei simply nodded her head.

"and somehow i had no idea who they were!" mei watched as jonah's jaw dropped "oh and scary spice tried hugging me but i ran away" jonah watched mei in disbelief as she continued to give him details.

as jonah continued to process the information he was just given mei took the time to look around. she turned around completely to see the sun coming up

still looking at the sunrise, mei tapped jonahs shoulder. "hey jonah?"

jonah left with his head in his hands "yeah whats up?"

mei turned to look at him. "what time is it?"

jonah brought his hand to his pocket and pulled out his phone. the bright light beaming at his face causing him to squint.

"oh my gosh, it's 4:13" once jonah read the time out loud the pair both became stressed. mei worried about her roommate, jonah about his job.

mei dreaded the reaction she would get from her roommate after being out for so long. jonah on the other hand worried about sleep.

he originally planned to stay out only a few minutes and get some fresh air, as he does everyday. of course there was a change of plans which led to him meeting mei.

mei grabbed her phone from her pocket only to see texts from evelyn. mei sighed in relief knowing her roommate still hadn't realized.

"jonah we should probably get going" the pair sat facing each other on the bench. mei sitting crisscross, and jonah with one leg bench and the other out.

"can we at least finish watching the sunrise?" mei wouldn't have minded knowing she works the night shift. she was just more worried about jonah and his job.

"but don't you have to be somewhere in literally 2 hours?" jonah slightly smiled at her concern.

"i'll be fine. remember i do this everyday." mei shook her head at the comment.

now the pair both faced the sun which was close to its peak. mei seemed relaxed. she was breathing in slow deep breaths; almost meditating.

jonah was somewhat relaxed. his shoulders were a bit more tense. he had two things on his mind. getting to work with at least an hour of sleep, and getting mei's number.

the thought of rejection made him cringe. it would be extremely embarrassing if mei didn't want to talk to him again. all he could do was hope for the best.

JONAH POV

we both started at the sun as it slowly rose. i once again thought about asking mei for her number. truly the worst that could happen is her say no, never talk to me, and change her job. great.

my palma grew sweaty. i had decided to ask her after the sunrise. midway through sunrise she turned around and looked at with with curiosity.

"what?" i questioned with a slight smirk on my face

"nothing just studying your features." she simply responded

"well i'm your new statue." she smiled at my comment

"has anyone told you that you have really pretty eyes?" she asked.

"i've heard it here and there. some say it's my best feature." her eyebrows gave her the look of confusion.

"personally i would say your best feature is your nose physically of course." she said correcting herself mid-way

"thank you. that's actually one of my biggest insecurities." i looked down to try and hide my smile.

"well hopefully i made you feel better about it" i looked up to see her smile. easily i smiled back at her.

THIRD PERSON

the sun continued to rise which left mei her thoughts. she still didn't know how she let a random get to know her. it's not like they had never met, it was all just new to her.

MEI POV

i sat alone with my thoughts wondering who to talk to this about. evelyn wouldn't give me clear advice, leila would freak out, and kamea would be too sweet about it. anela is my only and best choice.

i mean its not horrible. she met her boyfriend somewhat the same. the only difference is that she was asked out on a proper date. they didn't accidentally meet up at a super sketchy park.

my main worry is getting home. leila could wake up any second ; or who knows she probably went to a party and stayed over evelyns house.

coming back to my conscience i realized the sun had fully risen. the only thing i didn't want. i knew it would probably be extremely awkward especially now that we stayed longer.

i brought my knees up to my chest trying to lay on the bench. instead of hard wood i felt something softer. i moved a bit to realized it was jonah. 'great' i thought.

"sorry i completely missed the bench." it was the most awkward thing to ever come out of my mouth.

"nono your all good." he softly smiled. i'm beyond glad he's a sweetheart.

"we should probably get going. our roommates are probably only thinking of the worst right now." i spoke.

jonahs eyebrows raised in a form of surprise. i didn't
mean to make him think i didn't enjoy staying. it truly was just way to late.

"yeah we should." he kept the same smile as always.

i began to grab my stuff until i heard him call my name. i looked up to make eye contact with him. simply to let him know i was paying attention

"i was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner one day? i totally get if you don't want to, it would just be really nice." he gave a nervous smile

"is THE jonah marais asking me on a date?"

he lightly laughed. "yeah something like that."

i smiled after giving him a simple nod. i felt my face heat up which made me look back down to grab my keys.

"oh wait, here's my number." he moved a bit closer to me with a pen.

"do you have paper?" i asked.

he made a face of forgetfulness. "no im so sorry i forgot we need paper."

you gave a confused smile realizing you both had phones. "jonah just pass your phone."

he gave himself the duh face while passing his phone over to me. i typed in my digits and made myself a contact to make it easier on him.

i passed him his phone and saw him smirk.

"trust me we're gonna talk a lot." he stated "i have so many unanswered questions."

i smiled at his excitement. "well i'll text you when i wake up."

"and ill answer" he laughed at his own joke, which ended up making me laugh.

just like that we parted ways. i walked to my car and started the engine. on my way home i began to think about leila being home. hopefully she wasn't because that would be a tough situation to get out of.
