Hi, this is my first story , hope you like it :)
***
I glided through the glistening smooth airport floors pulling my bag behind me. I had two hours to spare and had already finished my check in. Since, last time I missed my fight I always made it a point to be as early as possible to the airport in spite of my nature of always being late. The day I missed the flight was one of the most chaotic days especially since I was flying alone. All I remember was cantering past people while I pulled my navy blue bag with a coffee in my hand and my favourite heavy black leather backpack.
I walked to the row of white chairs out of which hardly any were occupied. I place my pink backpack on a chair and sat down next to it, placing the paper bag of candy I had bought on the floor.
Carefully, I pulled out my laptop from my completely full bag which seemed like everything was going to fall out of. It was full of the most random things, I don't even know why I put in half of them, probably because I had felt my nerves tickling like a small feather when I was packing for this flight.
I had been looking forward but at the same time dreading this day, I was moving from my boring life in boarding school at London to go live with my dad and start high school in upper east side Manhattan private school.
I had spent 3 years of my life in boarding school and it was home to me. My wooden bunk bed which had a comfy cream white bed sheet with the solid pink thick blanket had become my safe place. I barely remembered my mom, she died when I was only 3. I had a faint memory of her singing a lullaby for me while I lay in my cot and a few other memories but nothing solid. It had been me and my dad but he was hardly ever home, he was always out on some or the other business so he thought it better to ship me off to boarding school.
But right now there was a sea of anxiety at the pit of my stomach, my dad had got married while i was away and i was finally going to meet my new family. what if they don't like me? What if I have mean stepsisters like in cindrella? What if -
"Excuse me, your flight is boarding" an air hostess who was wearing a black uniform, and had her strawberry blonde hair tied up in an elegant bun with her face caked up in makeup came up to me and said waking me up from thoughts.
I nodded slightly and picked up my bag and moved into the plane, showing them my passport and ticket as i entered. I looked at my ticket and was relived to know I had a window seat. I walked over to see someone already sitting there.
"Umm, hello" i said. No response.
"HELLO" I said louder this time, clearing my throat.
The boy abruptly looked at me. He had chocolate brown tousled hair and dreamy eyes which i couldn't stop looking at.
"YESS?" he said waving his hand front of me equally loud.
"Umm, that's my seat" I finally said.
"Are you sure?" he asked with a smirk.
"Of course am sure."
"Show me your ticket then, I don't believe you" he said with his smirk growing broader. I pulled out my ticket, smirked back at him as I waved it front of his face.
"Sure, you can have it" he said smiling as he put up his hands in defeat. Squeezing past him I took the seat.
"Am Nate, Nate Hastings by the way" he said looking at me
"Am Julia Roberts" i said looking back.
"Oh my god! Julia Roberts! It's so nice to finally meet you, your dad talks about you all the time! Am your step brother!"
What? My eyes popped up, I was so not ready for this. It was indeed going to be an interesting 5 hours.

I looked next to me to see Nate sleeping after we had spent 3 hours talking. We had decided to skip the small talk and he began to tell me stories about his family and then we played 21 questions, trying to get to know each other. From what I had gathered he was 3 years older than me, played football, was scared of spiders, favourite colour was black and has an unhealthy obsession with gummy bears. It seems like we would be close but what about the other 2? He mentioned he had 2 sisters.
I decided to just breathe and not have a nervous breakdown now, so I closed my eyes and slowly slipped away from reality.
