"this is a bunch of bullshit! they can't just kick me out! what am i supposed to do? where am i supposed to go?" hyerim chewed on her fingernail as she held her phone against her ear. she was sitting on top of one of her large suitcases, students from her college walking in and out of the female dormitory she was in front of.

"calm down rimmie, this is no time to panic! things will always work out!" her best friend kana spoke to her calmingly on the other side of the phone call.

hyerim ran a hand through her hair and stood up, kicking her suitcase lightly out of spite.

"oh yeah, just like how becoming a jiu jitsu champion worked out for me." she muttered before she let out a sigh. she knew she needed to move on already. lots of injuries happen to athletes and ruin their careers...but now she was also homeless. great.

"wait! i think i know a solution!" kana's voice boomed out of the phone, making hyerim wince and hold the phone away from her ear some. "my aunt owns a share house! i think it's about 30 minutes from our college....but it's cheap and you could always catch the bus!"

a share house? where you have a community kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and lounge? how big were the rooms going to be? the size of a shoe box?

"i'll send you the details! i'll let my aunt know you'll be coming! baiiiii~"

"kana wait!" it was too late, the girl had already hung up. hyerim let out an 'aish' under her breath. she looked up at the sun that was just beginning to lower behind the mountain. within a few seconds, hyerim's phone buzzed with a text message. looking at it, she had received the address of the share house and a promise that kana would get her aunt to rent a room to her for no more than $400 a month.

"let's go check it out! one night won't hurt!" hyerim talked herself up, and with a firm nod she picked up her duffle bag, backpack and began rolling her large suitcase behind her to the bus stop.

where in god's tarnation was this place? hyerim had been lugging her bags around the streets of this neighborhood for the past twenty minutes! her phone had died, perfect timing of course, and the street lights were so dim it looked like a scene out of a horror movie.

"great. just great. listen to kana, she can be trusted. well thanks a lot! if i die my spirit will haunt you!" hyerim said loudly as she held her fist up at the sky, casting a curse on her best friend. she let out a sigh and dropped her hand to rest on the handle of her suitcase.

"354 dongkyeonssi-kyung..." she murmured the address that she thought she had remembered right as she walked past one building after another.

shllllurrrrrp.

what was that? a strange gulping noise was heard a little bit behind her. then she heard some footsteps, almost in tune with her own. oh she knows what's going on. she's watched too many k-drama thrillers. she was being followed. for sure.

hyerim quickened her pace and turned the nearest corner. she dropped her bags and got into stance. just you wait mister, hyerim was about to make sure you don't follow any other unsuspecting females late at night!

as the footsteps got closer and closer, hyerim timed it right and hy-ah!

she jumped out and grabbed the arm of the culprit, bending her back before she used the momentum to flip the man over her and onto his back. as she did so, a banana milk container flew into the air and hit her on the forehead, exploding and drenching her hair with the liquid.
