*cough*
*cough*I silently passed a grey hair woman as she coughed into her hand.
"So are you going to that party tonight Lily?" Grace excitedly asked.
"I'll think about it, this whole virus thing that the news keeps going on about seems serious. I don't want to risk anything" I reasoned with her, filling my basket with vegetables.
"Ugh, don't be boring. Besides, there's no proof of it yet and if it is real, it won't reach us anytime soon".
"I'm probably going to pass, I do have work tomorrow you know...and so do you. Anyway I gotta go, I'm at the checkout".
Before she could respond, I hung up and shoved my phone back into my bag. After paying for my items, I left the shop and made my way home, scrolling through Twitter in the process.
I unlocked my front door and my cat greeted me with his usual meowing and rubbing himself lovingly against my legs. I gave him a quick fuss before going into my living/kitchen area. After putting the food away, I threw myself onto the sofa and switched on the news, my cat Oliver joining me.
"The prime minister is due to make a speech tomorrow morning regarding the new virus outbreak that is currently surfacing across many countries. There have been 2 cases in the U.K. over the past 24 hours and there are worries of more. There will be more on this later. We now head over to..."
I switched the channel over to Friends and snuggled up under my blanket, Oliver purring next to me as he fell into a slumber.
