Golden girl

5 minutes remained. 5 long minutes until we got to see who would win the Euro 2020 final. Italy were playing very well but England were too. It was 2-1 to England so everyone was getting excited. England were playing about with the ball now. I could tell they were teasing the other team and it made me laugh. 10-9-8 this was it. 4-3-2- *WHISTLE* I can't believe it. England had Just won the Euros.
I screamed. Dad screamed. The English fans screamed. We all ran on to the pitch.
"I'm so proud of you boys, a massive well done" dad said going round to hug them all.
"Congratulations!" I shouted running to Mason and jumping in his arms.
"Thank you Abbi" he smiled. He was almost crying as the rest of the team were too.
"I have a really important question" he looked at me seriously.
"What?" I said concerned
"Abbi Southgate, please will you be my girlfriend".
I noticed the whole team stopped. Mason stood in front of me and everyone was watching. I saw Phil. He smiled but it looked forced.
"Mason of of course I will!" I laughed jumping in his arms and kissing him.
The team cheered and ran about shaking each other's hands and hugging each other. I said Congratulations to every single boy that played on the pitch except from one who i saw talking to some people In the crowd.
"Foden" I said as he turned to look at me.
"I'll catch up with you guys later" Phil said to the people he was talking to and walked up to me.
"Listen" I began.
"Abbi honestly don't apologise for anything. I'm not in the mood to talk about relationships right now. all I want do do is celebrate a massive win with my team tonight because after what we have worked for I think that's what we deserve.
I laughed and hugged phill. He was hesitant but hugged me back.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"A Congratulations" I smiled planting a small kiss on his cheek. He laughed along with me.

It was time for the awards so the boys lined up waiting to get their medals. Dad went up first, followed by the staff members then the boys. The crowd went wild once again. Tears were falling down some of the boys faces. I laughed but had a tear in my eye aswell. I was so proud of them all. Harry approached the trophy and picked it up being careful not to drop it. He took it over to the team and confetti cannons were set off. I was called over to be in the group photos so i ran over and stood in between Mason and Dad.

"I think that was the most pictures I have ever been in" i laughed to Mason.
"I'm not gonna lie I agree" he laughed too.
"Over here!" A camera man shouted.
Jack handed Mason the trophy and Mason smiled for the Camera.
"One with the lady too if you please?" Mason said grinning at the nodding Camera man.
I held one side of the trophy while Mason held the other.
We laughed and took pictures and my favourite one was one of Mason kissing me on the cheek while I was laughing.

The celebrations continued all night until about 5am. Everyone drunk too much but it was all worth it. We all agreed before the drinking started that everyone would get to take the trophy for a week before it came back and stayed at St. George's stadium. That was where the boys usually trained.

~Phil POV~
When the moment came and Mason asked Abbi to be his girlfriend, I kinda anticipated it was going to be a yes so I wasn't shocked but I still felt Jealous. It was out of my power now and I decided I wouldn't do anything to damage me and Masons friendship and also if that's what Abbi wants then she deserves it. She deserves to be happy with whoever she chooses. I couldn't get over the fact my team had won the Euro 2020s. That feeling was insane and I would always remember it.

I went to talk to my family before the awards and they were congratulating me saying I done a fantastic job. Mum was crying of course and my dad was holding back a few tears I could see. I heard someone call my name and it was Abbi. I didn't want her to apologise for anything because it wasn't worth it. She made the decision and it was her choice and if she is happy with Mason then I'm happy for her. We hugged and laughed seeming to be actually like good friends. That hasn't happened in a long time.
Awards came and we celebrated. It was a great evening I would never forget.

~Mason POV~
I couldn't believe it. Hearing the sound of the crowd roar. Knowing we had just made history felt surreal. I had tears in my eyes knowing how important this was to a lot of people and especially myself. Now it was time to ask Abbi the big question.
"Abbi will you be my girlfriend" I asked.
she looked at me confused but then that confused look turned into a big smile.
"Of course I will" she beamed, jumping into my arms and kissing me.
That moment felt good. I had the girl I wanted. I won a massive tournament and that meant I was going home with a massive smile on my face. We got photos taken with the trophy and the boys let Harry take it first which was only fair considering he was the captain and he scored an amazing goal.

After we left the stadium covered in confetti, we hit the town where fans were streaming in streets, cameras flashing everywhere and singing was erupting the air. I got out the car we arrived in and I took Abbi by the hand leading her into the function suite. What an amazing night we had. We stayed out extremely late though but it was all worth it. I talked to Phil and he seemed good again. It was all such a night to remember. Well maybe not the drinking part since I got so drunk...
