It's not that simple

Disclaimer: I own nothing, but the plot!

Caroline's POV: I sighed, looking through another stack of student files before a soft knock sounded on the door. "Come in", I called, looking up from the desk to see Hope poking her head through the door.

"Is now a bad time", she asked me hesitantly.

"Of course not", I smiled as she closed the door behind her. "What's up", I asked politely before noticing the distraught look on the girl's face. "It happened again...didn't it", I asked, pinching the bridge of my nose with a sigh.

"I...I didn't want to say anything", she admitted quietly.

"What did she do this time", I questioned, causing her to look down at her feet.

"It was more my fault", she sighed. "I said that I was sorry for ruining her party yesterday, and the next thing I know, the kitchen looked like a tornado hit it...", she explained. "And forks were chasing me around school", she grumbled, causing me to purse my lips.

"Thank you for telling me, Hope", I nodded, watching her leave my office before picking up my phone and calling a familiar number.

"Hello", he answered.

"Hey, Ric", I greeted. "I really hate to bother you on your day off, but I think we should call Emma", I told him.

"What did she do this time", he sighed.

"Destroyed the kitchen, and chased Hope around with a fork", I explained tiredly.

"I'll be there in fifteen minutes", he said, hanging up the phone.

Alaric's POV: Hearing the door open, I looked up as Emma led Josie outside with a small smile. "It was very nice talking to you, Josie", she smiled. "Now off you go", she shooed, watching Josie hurry off to her next class before meeting our eyes.

"How bad is it", I asked her in concern.

"Maybe you should come inside", she suggested, causing me to share a look with Caroline before walking into her office.

"So what's causing it", Caroline asked her impatiently. "Is it the school? Being around so much magic? Is it us", she questioned.

"The school isn't the problem, Caroline", she retorted. "It's your daughter", she admitted.

"Excuse me", Caroline spoke up in irritation. "Are you saying my daughter's crazy", she fumed, causing me to lay a calming hand on her knee.

"Is there anyway to stop it", I asked, secretly fearing what could happen if we can't fix it.

Would she end up being like Kai?

Would I have to kill my own daughter to stop her from murdering everyone?

"It's not that simple", Emma spoke up, sitting across from us. "It could simply be her magic reacting to her emotions, or she could be trying to gain attention from her parents", she told us.

"Can you do anything? Bound this part of her", I asked her desperately.

"I could try, but I don't think that's wise", she said. "It could possibly do more harm than good", she pointed out. "She may even grow out of it on her own, but-"

"Do it", I insisted.

"Ric", Caroline frowned.

"I have to do this, Caroline. That's my daughter-"

"Our daughter", she reminded, causing me to sigh. "Don't I get a say in this before you lock some part of our daughter up and throw away the key", she stressed.

"It's not like that-"

"Isn't it", she challenged. "What if something goes wrong? This isn't a game, Ric. This is our daughter-"

"Don't you think I know that", I snapped, causing her to fall silent.

"Fine. Do the damn spell, but if anything happens to our daughter, I'll kill you myself", she threatened, storming out of the room as she slammed the door behind her.
