Matt tried opening his eyes, but his eyelids were so very heavy. It took significant amounts of effort to open his eyes. When they finally opened, bright red and white lights danced in the night as silhouettes waved around him. To Matt, it was beautiful, but his skin was unusually hot, as if it were burning. No, it definitely was burning.
Multiple gunshots assaulted Matt's ears. "Argh!" he said while covering his ears. Wait... Why are his hands wet?
On his arms were... thick red blood, flowing freely. Suddenly, more gunshots rang through the air.
They were so close. So very close. The shadows were... shooting each other? Without warning, a wet hand patted his face. It was... Colt Valdes. "Matthew? Matthew? Are you awake?" His voice was unusually weak and faint.
His senses crawled back to him, and when they finally did, his body roared in pain. Gunpowder was in the air, fire threatened to burn his skin, and gunshots resonated throughout the air.
On top of that, there was an unbearable, stinging pain on the back of his head. He tried to lift his arms, but the newfound fatigue was too much. "Matthew! Don't move!"
As if Matt could move, anyway. The silhouette of Colt grabbed something from his overcoat. "Swallow this and don't resist," he said as he placed something inside his mouth.
Matt gagged and was about to cough it out when Colt said, "Don't cough it out! Swallow it!" Matt had no real reason to listen to him, but it was better than sitting around and experiencing the horrible pain in his head.
Finally, he swallowed it. It was bitter, like when he accidentally ate orange seeds. But his strength crawled back to his body. His head's pain lessened until it was nonexistent. He could focus again, but he realized it might've been better to keep his eyes shut.
He was in an alleyway and a gunfight was taking place on the road. Several blue and white police cars had toppled over. Some were on fire, and officers used the ones that weren't as cover. Bullets hit the cars nonstop. The officers weren't able to move. If they did, they'd get shot by the group of men in black suits advancing towards them.
In the group's front was a black cloaked woman. The cloak covered her body except for the lower part of her face. In the midst of the gunfire, she held out her arms towards the officers.
Matt didn't understand what she was going to do, but he didn't have to wonder for long. Her arms started shining with blinding light. Matt, Colt and the officers covered their eyes, but then a shock wave blasted Matt backwards. Making him roll across the pavement.
He groaned and sat up. Did the woman just create a shockwave?
A flying car headed straight towards him. Matt yelped, covered his face, and went into a fetal position.
The ear-piercing sound of an explosion assaulted his ears. But he realized he hadn't been blown to smithereens. The car didn't fit through the alleyway and had crashed at the entrance.
He sighed in relief. Beside him, Colt had also been thrown back and was trying to prop himself up, but various injuries were covering his body. Matt staggered to his feet and helped him up.
"Thank you." From a pill container, Colt swallowed a green pill and let out a long breath. "We need to move Matthew."
"Wait, what about the officers?" He turned towards the blocked entrance, but the car blocked his view and the entrance.
Colt shook his head. "We can't help them, Matt. We need to go."
"But we can't just leave them!" The officers were probably getting slaughtered while they were wasting precious time. They could save them. Matt was sure of it.
