I was being chased.
Down a steep hill covered in grass that had been freshly painted with dew. At the top of the hill was a large tree with reclaimed wood that scattered at the strong base of it. The trees thick leaves blocked out most of the sunlight that would enlighten the world every morning, and who's shape would be defined at night with its entire form blotted out to show only a silhouette. This tree and hill was basically the monument of the city, because there was no other form of natural nature around it. At least, it was my monument.
It was far away from the city....far enough to just be able to see the city lights sparkle without having to hear the obnoxious honks and hoots and having to smell the fumes near large construction areas. The city was too busy for me to bear at times, and so the tree and hill were my savior.
But at this time, the tree did me no good.
I ran as fast at I could, which would result in much more fatigue later, but still, whatever was chasing me can't get me. I didn't know what was chasing me, but with the night shadowing the lands right behind me was enough to have me run. I felt darkness hardly missing my feet as it tried to grasp a hold of me. The ground was shaking, like a mini earthquake, and it made it even harder for me not to fall to my knees. I stumble down the steep hill and begin to lose my composure (as if I had any composure at all).
The darkness was then gaining on to me and began to hover over me turning my world black. The corners of my vision were being blotted out as I begin to slow down. I then gaze off into the distance, at the city who's lights still glistened ,being consumed by the darkness. I look back hoping to see the tree, but nothing was there, just pure black. I then turn back to see the city, but, as before there was nothing.
Feeling faint, my once clear vision was being eaten away. I was going blind as my buckled knees failed to uphold my scrawny body any longer. I fell onto the hard solid ground where the darkness spilled over me leaving me alone and highly vulnerable. My mind was blank and I felt as light as a feather, filled with nothing but darkness.
My eyes then snap open.
