Dream's pov

Toothbrush? Check. Shampoo? Check. School papers? Check. Hairbru—

"Oh honey, im gonna miss you!"

"Mom! I'm gonna be fine! And I promise to call you as often as I can."

"Okay, okay... Dream honey, you do realise how big of an opportunity this is?"

"I know I know! I'm really excited but scared at the same time. I'm so happy that George and Pandas got in as well."

"Me too, I need to tell George to look after you."

"Mom! Everything is gonna be fine, I promise."

"You know, after I found you in the alleyway I knew I wanted to protect you with my life, Dream you're a special kid."

I started tearing up, I tried to act really confident and annoyed by mom's babbling but I failed. I'm gonna miss her so so much. My life is gonna change completely, no bake offs with mom or jumping on the roofs with George and Pandas and no long and friendly conversations with the other villagers.

"Mom.. What if I don't fit in? Half of them are royalty or nobles."

"Dream baby, you don't have to fit in. You have to be the best. This school is competitive, only the best ones get accepted. And you, got accepted. Be proud about your past, be proud that you are a survivor and be proud that you had to fight for this. You earned this. "

I ran to my mom and hugged her. Puffy was my everything and I owed her everything. She saved me. She made me feel loved.

"Mom, I'm gonna miss you.."

"I know, my duckling."

She giggled after that. I love that nickname.

"Pack the rest of your stuff, the others are gonna be here soon."

She let me go and left the room shortly after.

I went back to packing, drying my eyes using my shirt. I haven't cried in a while. It felt good.

I'm finally done. God, that was exhausting.

"DREAM! GEORGE AND SAPNAP ARE WAITING FOR YOU!"

Oh, and perfectly in time. I took a look of my old room and grabbed my leather backpack. Swinging it over my shoulder and walking downstairs.

"Goodbye, duckling. Stay safe. And find a good spouse, please."

"MoOoM!?"

She laughed.

"I'm sorry."

Puffy hugged me, trying hardly not to cry.

"Goodbye, mother. Thank you for everything, I'll visit as soon as I can."

"Now, now. Go. Before I can't let you go."

She pulled away from the hug. Smiling and shoving me towards the door. I smiled back, opening the door and taking one last glance towards my beloved mother. Finally stepping out and closing the door.

This is where the real adventure starts.
